a.k.a. Red-Water Riptide
Goofy | Awkward | Fiendish
Role: Captain, Helmsman
Riptide is a rarity among Clan Abyss: he is one of very few deepsea dragons that can produce red bioluminescent light. Although it is not as strong as the regular blue-green signals, the majority of deepsea inhabitants cannot detect red light from such depths, giving him an advantage among predators and prey. Riptide essentially disappears in the water, and by the time he is noticed, it is much too late. He often uses this advantage to sneak up on and frighten his anxious or high-strung clanmates.
Coincidentally, Saturnus later joined the ranks of Clan Abyss because she was able to detect Riptide's red signals in the deepsea, another dragon able to produce the same spectrum of light as him, much to their excitement. The two are kindred spirits, using their rare form of bioluminescence to send signals out into the sea meant only for themselves.
I didn't choose the Tug Life, the Tug Life chose me.
Riptide is recognized by Clan Abyss as a pirate captain, and his marauding coliseum party (or 'crew' as he calls it) tend to me more extreme than your average corsair. The somewhat infamous pirate crew, known as the Seacoast, is located just off the seaport of Clan Abyss, where they maintain their own humble docks. Despite the small territory, the Seacoast controls a decent portion of the Thousand Current Sea's black market.
Rather than actually work towards collecting their own share of goods, the Seacoast prefer to thieve their haul from other hardworking dragons and beastclans alike. Riptide leads his crew all across the vast Thousand Current Sea in search of treasure and fame. Whether it's food, treasure or materials, it's all considered a good day of looting as long as they're not coming back empty-handed, which in their case, happens more often than not.
Riptide is also notorious for his gambling problem.
