Biography
Soliel
Clan Founder | Free-Spirited Traveler

Clan Founder | Free-Spirited Traveler

Who were his parents? What was his home clan like? Soliel's been asked these questions - and others like them - more than once. The replies have varied every time. Not even the dragons that have known him longest are entirely sure which answer is the real one...or if they all hold nuggets of truth. When confronted he always replies, "this is home now and that is what matters to me," with an obvious grin. (Which inevitably results in a tail smack from his fellow co-founder, if she overhears him.) This elusive behavior stands out largely because he hides so little. He would be quite the open book if his voice were able to reveal his emotions; as it is, his words rarely contrast his actions, so many take him at face value. Soliel is friendly to a fault. Unless a creature attempts to harm him or his allies, he will try to accept them for who they are. Different backgrounds, other elemental allegiances, none of them are enough for him to push someone away who is in need. This does get him into trouble! He relies on speed and his small size to get him out of scrapes; he's no fighter or mage and learned quickly to back down from a more powerful foe. His preference is to explore rather than engage in battle, anyway, and he often returns home with odd trinkets or foods from far off places. He's visited every region of Sornieth at least once. That said, he has no interest in going anywhere near the border of the Scarred Wasteland again if he doesn't have to. Danger can be run from, but illness follows you home... Despite an affection towards the clan he helped to found, he has never had any interest in being a leader. The last time it was suggested, he said "never in a hundred years," flew off to go gathering, and didn't show himself for half a week. He believes the position is better suited to calmer or more level heads - ones who can ignore the tug of the wind in their bones. While able to resist the urge to fly off when a situation truly calls for it, Soliel has a terrible case of wanderlust, and can reach near-Spiral levels of jitters if cooped up for a lengthy period. In recent years this has become more pronounced - his absences longer, his journeys farther - and no one is quite sure what he's looking for... His companion is a Sunspot Clouddancer; fitting, since his own name references the sun. The predatory bird is little more than a fledgling and has only recently begun to travel with the little dragon. It doesn't seem to trust other dragons much yet, if at all - and at times has acted skittish around the golden-scaled Fae as well - but Soliel is determined to make things work out. He currently doesn't have a mate; so far his only clutch was with his co-founder, and that was long enough ago for his offspring's hatchlings to be fully grown. Soliel is in no rush to mate again, but wouldn't be against the idea if the right dragon came along, either. He and Flora are still very close but they just weren't that compatible long-term. These days, it's so rare that they are in the same place at the same time, there'd be no time to try making eggs anyway! |
