Tiamat

Matriarch of the clan, Tiamat's charge is to guard its members for the rest of her long life. She is queenly, loving and stern, and an excellent judge of character. Her closest confidants are Datalink and Rutherienne, the first dragons to join her clan.

The stories she likes to tell the clan's hatchlings involve her long trek through the Shifting Expanse after leaving her birth clan on her Search, and the Pearlcatcher and Tundra she encountered along the way. Their journey ended at a shallow cave in the shadow of a great mesa, with the starry night sky interrupted by crisscrossing cables carrying electric currents. Something about the land tugged at her heart and she began to dig.

"Some of us," she would say, nodding to the Guardian members of the clan, "came here following the call of their Search and some of us will depart this clan to answer it. The rest of us are free to choose where we belong. You are welcome to stay as long as you like and leave when you wish. Though I'd rather you stay; there's a clan fifteen miles off looking to push its territory into ours. That won't happen while this clan is in my care."
