Megatronus

Megatronus is the proud patriarch of his makeshift clan. A fierce warrior from birth, the Guardian began life in an illegal fighting ring that pitted powerful juveniles against each other in death matches. As he grew in rank and size, his protective instincts awakened, and he came to know that being made to kill his own for sport was wrong. Megatronus rallied his fellow fighters and escaped together, leaving their captors broken.

Few remain of those original dragons he escaped with, either having chosen to serve the Shadowbringer like his first mate Herald, or left to join other clans. Growing up away from older guardians, Megatronus took Herald as his mate, although did not bond with her in the same way as he would a charge. When she left, Megatronus took a journey not to seek someone to dedicate his life to, but to find other victims of abuse and oppression to accept into the protection of his clan. It was by sheer coincidence that he happened to find both.

From the moment he laid eyes on the Ridgeback, Soundwave filled his heart and he knew what it meant to be a Guardian. He broke Soundwave free from her abusive clan, earning a few scars for her in the process. Now he rules over his clan with her at his side, protecting his fold with his mighty roar.

After years of loyal service to his brethren, a transformation began to take hold of the Guardian. The clan he had freed Soundwave from had set a curse on Megatronus, twisting his form, shortening his wings, elongating his horns into terrifying antlers. He became something massive and ancient, losing the ability to communicate clearly. Many dragons of his clan began to distrust him in this new form, growing hostile or frightened of their protector.

Deciding it best to let them be, Megatronus lives apart from the rest of the clan in self-imposed exile, keeping them all safe from afar. Soundwave alone remained, keeping her altered mate company no matter his appearance.
