A down-to-earth, maternal dragon, with a strong protective instinct. She grew up in the clan, among all the other hatchlings, and knew from the start that this was her home and she'd do anything to keep it safe. She even considered changing breeds to a guardian, and taking on the clan as her official charge. When she fell in love with a soft coatl named Epichrio, and found herself with two hatchlings, she realised why she hadn't become a guardian. Her love for the clan and her home found a focus in her two daughters, and she knew they were her purpose in life. Her younger, Arben, learned of the Shadowbinder through Freya's own mother, and left the clan, eventually devoting herself to the goddess's service permanently. Diavra's path was a little less simple; when she and Arben were playing at the borders of the clan, Diavra was taken by a pair of Raptorik scouts. Freya was some way away, but the moment she heard her daughter's muffled screams, she felt an icy terror flood her—she bolted after them without hesitation. All the rest of the clan saw that day was a vicious arial fight, which culminated in three creatures plummeting through the forest canopy. A search of the area judged Freya and her hatchling dead, and a small funeral was held in their memory. That's why there were shockwaves through the clan when Freya dragged herself out of the forest, Diavra on her back, two days later. When they said they thought she had died, she told them that she had. She showed them the golden scars across her body, more than severe enough to kill a dragon, but explained that her sacrifice had earned her a second chance. She told them that she would now be dedicating her life to teaching the hatchlings of the clan to fight. After that, she became a lot more distant. Diavra didn't see her as often, and the rumours surrounding her didn't help.
