Biography
AOIFE
Witch | Diviner
Aoife is a very passionate dragon. Whatever she feels, she feels it intensively. She is usually the happy-go-lucky type of dragon, and if she ever feels blue, it really weighs her down.
She loves colourful flowers and plants and feels very safe in the forest. Feykro and Reyth teach her how to use herbs for healing and magick, Eira and Esmeralda show her how to use gems for positive energy. She is very fascinated by esotericism, and interacts with Baldwin at his stand at the Trading Post to learn alchemy as well. She enjoys throwing various things into the cauldron and waits eagerly for the results. She loves listening to Wered's songs, especially his ballads, and Silaasluv's poems. One of her hobbies is interpreting poems.
She collects a lot of things, some of which are flowers, herbs, crystals and feathers.
After years of studying the art of divination, Aoife finally feels confident in herself and her abilities. She blesses the members of the Order. Sometimes she helps out Koraaviik, giving the dragons who go into battle a glimpse of their fate.
Aoife does not approve of Caithe's practices. She believes that you should not alter fate, you should not make people fall in love or resurrect what's long been gone. She has great respect for Caithe's magical abilities, but Aoife wished her fellow witch would use her powers in better ways.
"What happens when I dip my claws in there?”, Aoife asked. Baldwin looked at her worried.
“I advise you not to do that. You must know that I lost my horn to a horrible alchemy accident.”
“Oh, but I only threw a boot in the brew. Surely that can’t be too dangerous?” The colourful Spiral girl made some gestures that could only mean ‘you’re overreacting’. She stared at the Pearlcatcher scratching his head, her eyes were big and shiny, and they reminded Baldwin of a little hatchling begging its mother for some affection. She started pouting, and continued staring.
Baldwin gave in. “A-alright. Only the clawtips, though. Do not stick your entire arm in there!”
Aoife cheered and proceeded to slowly, carefully sink her claws in the bubbling, not-yet-boiling brew. She could feel its warmth on her claws and a little bit of prickling, too.
When she pulled out her hands, her clawtips had turned blue.
“Aaaawweesooommmmee…”, she laughed.
Aoife rushed back to the clan’s lair, showing everyone she met, friend or foe, what her nails looked like. “This is so pretty!!”, she yelled excitedly.
At a small riverbed, not far from their lair, she met Odin, the white Skydancer, taking a sip out of the clear water.
“Odin!”, Aoife shouted. “Looklooklook!”
And before Odin could register who it was that was screaming at him, he saw only blue before his eyes.
“Aren’t they pretty?!?!”
Odin took a step back, noticed it was Aoife, and observed the Spiral’s claws.
“Why, yes. They look different. What did you do?”, he asked curiously.
“Dipped my claws in Baldwin’s cauldron.”
“And they turned blue?”
“Yes!!”
A short pause ensued. Odin seemed to contemplate.
After a while of silence, he began stuttering: “Do… do you think… I could…, too?”
He looked at his own claws. Pale and… boring.
Aoife nodded her head at what seemed to be the speed of light. “Yesyesyes let’s go ask Baldwin!”
And Aoife rushed off again.
Baldwin had sighed. “I really think you shouldn’t… and you shouldn’t have told anyone…”
“But pleaaase!” Aoife had pouted again, showing her shiny hatchling eyes under her cloak. “Please, Baldwin. Odin would really, really love to have some colour to him! Only one more time!”
Back at the lair, Odin just couldn’t stop staring at his claws, admiring them and their colour. A deep red it was, perfectly suiting his wristband and favourite rose. He was satisfied.
"Hold still," Aurora said. "I can't paint you like this." Aurora squinted from behind her canvas, looking at the Spiral girl before her with grim eyes. "Aoife, hold still."
Aoife tried her best to keep her posture, but "Oh, look, a butterfly! Bird!! Birdbirdbird!" kept coming from her as her eyes darted across the meadow in the Gladeveins. She looked up at the sun and closed her eyes. The warm rays of sunshine felt good and calmed her a little. Aurora took the chance to sketch, before Aoife decided to run after a squirrel. "She's so beautiful," Aurora thought. "A true gem." Something in her stomach was tingling as the Coatl girl drew her lines across the rough surface of the canvas.
Aoife had sat still for minutes when a butterfly arrived to flutter around her nose, only to settle right on top of it.
"Oh no!" Aurora grinned silently. "I have to sketch it, quickly."
When she was done, she was proud of herself - and of Aoife, who had curled up into a ball on top of a rock, listening to the calming flow of the streaming water. Aurora looked from her friend to her painting and back. She grabbed another canvas and started sketching again. A sleeping Aoife. "Nobody will believe me."
