You couldn't tell from a quick glance at him, but despite this dragon's appearance he was born on the windy steppes nowhere near the sea. His parents weren't followers of the Tidelord either, nor any of his grandparents. Somewhere along the way his guardian ancestors evolved patterns on their skin that perfectly mimicked the sea, and then promptly drew themselves from the water and wandered off, apparently never to return again.

Mahi never understood why. He's always been a bit heavy to be adept at flying, but when he's in the water he is weightless, and quick as a fish. Growing up in the steppes has left him feeling out of place, and he has always entertained the notion of traveling to the sea to the north, or even the frigid southern strait. For now, he spends much of his time in the quick rivers that cascade between the high cliffs of the Ascent.
