Kian was the greatest warrior in his family. Sure, he looked cute, but would that stop him. No. No it would not. Besides, he was easily underestimated. He spent hours a day training, learning to use his natural skills and abilities–knowing how to dig right underneath his opponent and exploding outwards, or using his claws as weapons. The Dusthides’ habits of staying underground helped to disguise Kian’s bright colors, while he learned to use his claws to climb trees and drop on enemies in ambush.

All this training begs the question, what was Kian fighting for? He wasn’t sure. He would find something to fight for, but for now he fought. Or, at least, practiced. “Maybe…” he thought. “I should find a real teacher.”
