Binky's Clan

A new dawn has started. The sun reflects off her wings as it slowly climbs the hillside. Dew on the fresh grass below her and the tree leaves above brings forth the pleasant aroma of the awaiting day. Her eyes slowly open. She blinks. Once. Twice. Squinting slightly at the light trickling through the branches. She yawns and then takes in a deep breath. The crisp air is so invigorating. It feels so good as it flows through her lungs. The fragrance of the flowers around her bring a sense of calmness. She knows Spring has arrived and tilts her head slightly towards the sounds around her. Crickets still lightly chirp as the sun continues to rise. Birds tweet happily in the trees and on the ground as they dig for their breakfast. One pulls up a fat worm and swallows it in one big gulp! Squirrels chase each other through the trees, laughing as they go. She can hear the flutter of the wings of the butterflies and the buzz of the bees as she sits in stillness.

She stands, stretches, and slowly walks towards the stream that is not far ahead. The small fish near the edge of the stream shudder and take refuge under near-by rocks and moss along the banks when they hear her approach. She leans down and closes her eyes. The cold water tastes so good as she drinks. It feels just as wonderful on her face and neck as she takes a claw and spashes it upon herself. As she sits by the quiet flowing water she starts to plan her day, as well as think of the future and what must be done. Something only she can do.....
