aww i'm glad she's getting more comfortable!! i don't really know, especially because it's always been just one bird, but letting them roam free, giving attention, and spending time, they'll slowly warm up to you. i think that's what i did!
i totally get the aversion to premade bios,,, i am the same way. also yeah cockatiels make some pretty nice pets! i'm sorry to hear about your baby </333 the other one is probably grieving, which makes sense. i only have one bird so he LOVES me and i'm his mate ^_^
