At the southern end of Greatwyrm's breach, the wind howls and billows forth from the unseen depths. So strong are the currents that no dragon, however strong their wings, can withstand the onslaught. The only way to cross this part of the canyon is to go around it - adding an extra week to one's travel time - or to make the crossing on foot. The climb down is treacherous; the climb back up is even more so. The sheer cliff walls allow for no distractions or mistakes. Many a poor soul has met their end on these walls.

Halfway down, carved into the side of the cliff, is a bed-and-breakfast.

It's not the sort of place you go to, it's the sort of place you end up in. Those who do end up staying at Halfway Down (the proprietor is friendly, but not particularly imaginitive) often just find themselves living there indefinitely. Permanent guests include Sornieth's laziest sorceress, a feuding pair of healers, a smallish crime syndicate in way over their heads, fake royalty, a cyborg, and a Fae weilding a claymore. A rowdy bunch, to be sure, but the food is good and the beds are soft, and is where you were going really all that important? I mean, that climb is just awful.
