The Named Clans
Though progress on deciphering the tome has been slow, what little we have managed to analyze already blows our previous understanding of dragon culture and society out of the water. A type of feudal system perpetuated their lands, with various realms comprised of uneasy alliances and cold-wars between factions. Innumerous clans populated the globe at the height of dragon supremacy, though only some were noteworthy enough in the eyes of their peers to earn themselves names. The concept of a given name was much different in dragon culture than in our own; instead of automatically being assigned a name at birth, dragons must acquire one through monumentous feats and accomplishments.
Precious few achieved this level of esteem; many dragons in fact lived their entire lives nameless, only responding to diminutives or contextual greetings. It is believed that most individual dragons were firmly cemented into their assigned castes, only deserving of indivudual acknowldgement should their efforts or results go considerably above and beyond what was expected. That is to say, all of the dragons named in The Harrowry are individuals far more exceptional and notorious than most.
