KINGS FALL

A clan born out of a deep pit of deceit, the first dragon to enter the Dusk Sanctum was a Prince, one who had been outlawed by his own father because of a relationship seen as blasphemous, unwittingly sentencing his lover to a painful death.
The prince fled the Kingdom of Ashfall, refusing to let the banner of coward be placed on him as he was to be forced onto a cutting block, instead grieving for his fallen companion among foul creatures and air plagued with rot- vowing never to let another close steal his heart to spare himself the pain when they leave him, by choice or by the talons of another. After nearly a decade of resentment and misery, he pulled himself out of his addled mind, promising to help others that had been ousted from their own homes. He gathered dragons banished from various kingdoms, rallying them under a sigil of peace. The Prince called them his children, and the ones who could fight were outfitted with gnarled weapons made from the roots of poisonous trees near their quickly-growing clan.
They were dubbed 'Black Doves' and the others 'White Crows' Simply meaning that the two divisions of this clan were both united in their abnormality despite their usefulness, united against the common enemy of the kingdoms that they had so diligently served. Younger or newer recruits strive to reach the rank of Black Dove, to serve their new king who was seen as almost a god in their eyes.
Years of drinking from the polluted waters near the Dusk Sanctum had not corrupted Prince Jazalru's heart but hardened it, turning his emotions to steel. He returned to his kingdom with a roiling pit of hardened anger in his belly, finding his father fat and old atop his golden throne, he stomped forward and sliced steel-tipped claws across the king's throat. Once he stopped breathing, Jazalru yanked his skull out of his corpse to wear atop his head. His battalion left the kingdom with cheers, their new king having conquered his ancient enemy. However, the Prince realized that he did not want to rule over this kingdom as he had dreamed of for so many years, looking down at the guards and nobles groveling at his feet. He felt the Knight of Mercy place an ethereal talon upon his back and Prince Jazalru decreed that Ashfall was to become a Queendom, that perhaps the female counterparts of the previously full-male court would be more sensible.
Leaving the royal court in a fit of disarray, he marched down the castle steps and through the Grimwood Tangle, back around the River of Valor and into the Dusk Sanctum where they partied for weeks, their King watching them from above the whole time, the skull of his father placed atop his head. He relinquished the title of Prince and adopted a new name 'Kyroloth', meaning liberator.
He now leads his Clan in an age of peace, decreeing that they will only get involved in Kingdom affairs if necessary. The Black Doves and White Crows now live in a way that others might call primitive, but they flourish in their way.
