A stony spine rises beside the Lightweaver’s realm, serving as a divide between her sunkissed domain and that of her shadow-clad sister. The brighter side of the sentinel peak slopes gently out of the golden Sunbeam Ruins; the other cuts steeply into the sunken depths of the Tangled Wood and is lost in the perpetual gloom. From the crown of the crag, one can see ruins and forest sprawled below in broad swaths of splendor and darkness, crisply outlined as though by the brushstrokes of some immense painter. It is for this astonishing juxtaposition that the small mountain range was given its name: Paradox Ridge.

The view from this baffling pinnacle dazzles all who dare climb to its summit, but nestled in the undulant foothills there is another oddity to behold. For there, in a tidy network of tunnels hidden behind stately ecru pines, Ego and his kaleidoscopic clan have carved a home for themselves from the dispute-torn soil; living and thriving in the ghostly glow of their luminescent mushrooms.

Under the stern leadership of the stoic Ego and the patient council of the warmhearted Qua, members of this small and quiet clan coexist in practiced symbiosis, if not always in harmony. They are known simply as the Ridge Clan.
