There was no reason to assume the water polished stone in the river was an egg. Sure, it was the right shape and size, but Earth Dragons neither nest in rivers nor lay such smoothly shelled eggs. Water Dragons might nest in a river, but usually are deep in the sea. While the eggs might be covered in barnacles there, it still doesn't look like a polished rock. So there was really no reason to assume that RiverStone would hatch from the rock as it was warmed after being taken out by Roan Rat. But this is exactly what happened.

So now that stretch of river has a Guardian Dragon and a new clan is born honoring the strength and tenacity of the Earth while respecting the power of ever-moving water.
