~ Into the glades ~

You walk through the glades, pushing past towering ferns and tripping over boulders as you lose yourself in the endless wood. It seems as if you've been walking for miles, days, weeks..! Your head turning to face every distant cry from an animal, every whoop or squawk from a large bird. You brush off spiders, swat away flies. As the sun passes it's peak, you decide to take a break, resting against a boulder, not caring about the flies anymore. Just as you close your tired eyes, you're forced to become alert as you hear a loud rustle from the brush. You quickly stand, facing whatever predatory beast may be on the other side.
"Well, hey there..!" You hear a feminine voice chime, looking up to see a long neck of a green bogsneak, towering over the already mighty flora. Her colors didn't even let you realize she was there..!
"What's the matter?" The she-dragon tilts her head, her large fin raising higher as she listens in. Your widened, frightened eyes stared back into hers, your mouth tightly shut.
"Lynx got you by the tongue? Come on, let's get you fixed up." You didn't realize she already had her long tail around your waist, lifting you up and onto her back as she calmly treads to a place you can only worry about. 'Maybe she's posing to be friendly only so that they can eat me.' You wonder, too tired to move. You manage to look around, baskets sitting to your sides, both filled with bones and odd herbs. 'They'll turn me into a soup. I'm done for..' You decide, closing your eyes and finally falling asleep, the slow rocking of the bogsneak lulling you into a light nap.
-- Some time later... --

"Yeah, the poor things' eyes were rolling to the back of it's head." You hear the familiar voice say as you leave your dormant state. You keep your eyes closed so you can confirm your superstitions.
"Well, do you think it needs more sleep? Some food? Did you spot any stings from ashspine widows? Ink ants?"
"No, no Quetzal, it seems to be fine. Just tired. Let's get some food ready for them and then maybe someone can show them around the village. I know that Udyr has been begging for a new canvas to tailor some new attires for. Their cloths are tattered to bits!" You find courage to open your eyes, realizing you becoming dragon stew was out of the option. Before you stands the same green bognseak, and a thickly maned tundra, who you assume is Quetzal. His green eyes stare back at yours through his bird skull mask.
"Hello! How are you feeling? Thank goodness Seaweed found you or you would've been a goner..!" Quetzal asks. You look around to see where you are. Beams of light poke through circular holes in the stone wall, vines and leaves creeping in on their own free will. You're nested in something that very much resembles a nest. A bowl-like shape, but as if it were made of clay or some kind of rock. Many layers of moss and soft leaves cushion your body as you look back at the tundra.
"We're just about to make a small meal for you. Do you have any dietary preferences?" A different voice chimed in, a slight lisp to her voice. You look over to see a second female bogsneak, this one a merle-looking combination of grays, blacks, and blues.
"Uhh... I suppose anything is fine." You answer, your voice a but hoarse from the extreme amounts of panting and huffing as you hiked.
"Good! We'll have some of our best cooks prepare a full feast for everyone!" In your peripheral, you see Seaweed lean over to Quetzal, whispering, "It can talk?"
-- Fat Nap ensues... --

After some more rest, you awoke to the most wonderful and new aromas. Quetzal sitting at your bedside. A brown robe was folded neatly at the foot of your 'nest'. "The food is ready, come join us!" He beamed, eager to show you the other dragons. After simply putting and neatening the robe over your tattered clothes, you stepped out of the small cave. You enter a clearing, almost as if it was a Bazaar from how bustling it was. Similar caves are carved into the rock face along a flowing river, each one having a different theme: toys, books, herbs, or simply just a home. In the center, hatchlings run and play, weaving in and out of the large and strong legs of other dragons. These adults seem preoccupied with their own tasks: carrying roasts, hauling nets of fish, and wheeling barrows of berries, fruits and veggies to the large stone table. You look up to see 4 tall stone pillars, roughly the size of a three-story house, a nocturne perched on each one.
"Cassiopeia! You can all take a break! It's a special occasion!" Quetzal softly shouts up to a vibrant magenta nocturne. She leaps, swooping down over your head to lean, turning back around to land in front of you. Three other nocturnes land at her side. The Magenta Cassiopeia was ethereal, silent as she looked back into your eyes like a judgemental feline. Same goes for a icy nocturne, bearing a winter shawl, snow dancing around her despite the tropical climate. The other two were darker, one wearing plated battle armor, the other's armor being made of black-stained skulls, similar to Quetzals attire. They both approach.
"Pleasure to meet you..!" The battle-armored male chimed.
"I'm Adramelech, and this is Neith." The dark female's tail almost made a whipping sound from how quickly it wagged.
"Wow..! It's my first time meeting one of ya..!" She smiled as she held out a claw, you'd awkwardly grasp it, shaking it in greeting.
"Oh, don't mind Cassi and Ipasha. Parties aren't really their thing.." She chuckled as she gestured for the two to greet you. Cassiopeia approached, eyeing down Neith.
"I thought I was the one in charge of you two.." She spoke, her soft voice just as mystical as her gem-bound appearance.
"Anyways, it's nice to meet you. Make sure you eat everything you can. Always fun to try new foods." She silently chuckled as she turned away, looking back at you with a wink before flying off to another dragon, a large imperial. Your gaze drifted back to Ipasha, who simply nodded, then walked off to join the others. The two clumsier guardsmen giggled at each other with a nod.
"Nice to meet you again! Don't be afraid to say hi..!" Then they both trotted off. You looked up at Quetzal, a bit dumbfounded.
"Sorry, everyone is going to be excited to meet you... You're the first human we've had here in a while..." He scratched the back of his mane with a clawed hand, a bit sheepish. You then both walked towards the large stone table, the aroma growing stronger. After finding your place at the table (there were no seats), Quetzal let out a chortled and throated call, the bickering and chatty dragon conversations falling to a quick halt as they all looked at him.
"How's everyone doing tonight? I know this feast was a tad last minute, so I'd first like to thank everyone who helped out. Especially Slate and Shale with all of this fish!" The dragons let out throated calls in applause. A large shadow loomed over you, turning around to see an eel-like dragon who winked down at you. The applause soon fell silent.
"Now, if anyone is wondering why we have a feast grander than others today, it's because we are housing a human for a bit! And what better welcome is there than a feast! Please be sure to share some with our guest, I'm watching you, Gaolers..." Quetzal chuckled as he eyed three tall, ever-looming figures with gnarled antlers, looking down a bit bashfully. Some dragons let out soft chuckles, likely a small incident where they ate the whole table due to their large size.
"Now, without further ado, dig in..!" The dragons all roared and called out happily before grabbing pieces of food that suited their liking. All seemed to be seasoned and garnished to perfection. After feeling a bit overwhelmed, two small velispuns worked together to heave over a plate pre-made with food for you. A bit of everything. They almost tripped over their long manes as they heaved over the plate, which you gratefully took.
"Enjoy." They both said, in sync. And enjoy you certainly did.
-- Shoveling down food...--

After the banquet and feast, your stomach was filled, and the warm sun that you enjoyed for a bit, you began to avoid. A blanket of shade covered you. You looked up to see an outstretched wing, a horned pearlcatcher smiling down at you.
"I'd assume you'd like a tour? I'm Aragonite." He bowed his head, his pearl clutched in his front-right claw. You nodded in response to his question.
"There seems to be a lot of shops here." You wondered aloud, still looking around at the bustling dragons cleaning up from the large feast.
"Mmm... Shops, I wouldn't say. Not that you aren't allowed to say it. We use more of a bartering system. Say, if the owner of the toy-shop there gets bitten by a hatchling, and goes to Ryujin for some healing, Ryujin would then be allowed to grab a free toy. Very much quid-pro-quo, but at your own leisure." He chuckled, starting to walk with you towards the toy shop. A orange, swirl-patterned wildclaw using her long claws to have a dragon puppet dance before a group of chirping and barking hatchlings.
"Hey there Ginger." Aragonite smiled. "How's business today?"
"Oh, you know." Ginger chuckled softly, her smile still grand and joyous for the younglings to look at. "Rhodochrosite bought like five toys from me, and then Romeo brought me some bouquets of flowers to make up for it." The wildclaw chuckled.
"Well, wanna show our new human friend here something cool?" You looked from the two of them, hoping to just visit a new stall due to the complaining.
"Mmm... How about, uhhh..." She tossed the puppets strings in the air, catching them with her tail as it continued to dance. You heard muffled singing, clanging of toys and boxes. "'Ere we go..!" Ginger's head then popped back up, in-time to catch the puppet from her flicked tail, the toys dance never faltering.
"I call it..." She paused, leaning closer to you. "A twirly whirly..! I found it on the riverbank a while back, but it's fun to play with." She held up a chrome-looking toy, three rounded pieces facing outwards, a circular bit in the middle. She then spun it. You were actually a bit amused, realizing how much a dragon treasured a fidget spinner.
"Wow. Pretty cool." You felt yourself smile in bemusement as the dragon kept spinning it with a pinky, her other hand preoccupied with the puppet.
"You can keep it if you'd like?" Ginger asked, holding it out to you. You politely declined, looking over at the next stall, where an icy-colored dragon was infatuated with his books.
"The Library? Sure." Aragonite lead you over, his once outstretched wing now tucked as the sun grew closer to the horizon. "Jay." Aragonite called out.
"Eh?" The imperial flicked his ear, showing you his cheek for a moment, his gaze never wavering from the book.
"The human is here." Aragonite sighed. You then heard a loud BANG as 'Jay' snapped his book shut. Adorned in a fancy robe and other attire, he looked more like royalty than a simple bookkeeper.
"Jayfeather Windsor III." The imp took your hand, bowing his head to press your hand against the base of his horns in greeting. His voice was suddenly posh, compared to the gruff and grumpy 'Eh' he had muttered moments before.
"I have a wide selection of dragonkin books if you'd like to borrow one." He smiled, gesturing to the petite library that looked to be more of a glorified closet from all of the clutter.
"I'm alright, thank you." You chuckled as you saw the covers, and glimpses at the inside of what Jay was reading. Although you can speak their language, you couldn't read it... You looked to aragonite, unable to help yawning softly as you gripped their elbow-fluff.
"A bit tired? You can explore more in the morning. Quetzal still has that bed set up for you, so you can head back there for the night." He pointed across the clearing, under a large oak there was the cave.
"You see under that tree there? That's your place." And just as the torches around the clearing were slowly lit, you wandered back to your soft nest for a good night's sleep.
