If you'd like to sell your dragon and ensure it won't be exalted, you may want to sell it a price above the fodder floor (say, 15k) or advertise in your own hatchery. The fodder floor can rise depending on whether there is a dominance battle going on.
What price are you selling your dragons for? If you are selling them at the cheapest price that adult dragons are sold for on the Auction House, which is known as the fodder floor, chances are, your dragon will be exalted. Right now, the fodder floor is 7k
