In the darkest of pinewoods,
by the deepest river depths,
where shadows lie thickest,
there lives many
a strange creature and dragon.
In one such a place,
along an old and disused trail,
one might find a mossy sign
half-hidden in the shadows.
Those who dare
step off the worn track
can just make out
the crude inscription
clawed into the rotting wood.

See the Darkness
in every Light,
the Shadows reach farther
when the candle burns bright.

Harken to the Shadows' Call.

Tales have spread,
far and wide,
of the Clan who accepts
one and all.
No matter the darkness
in their heart,
the shadows
in their past.

All may find refuge,
for here live others
who are hurt, hunted,
broken.

For here lives
the Clan Dassirr'.

Dare you continue?

Beyond the mossy signpost, in the darkness beneath the trees, you can make out a narrow trail snaking its way into the heart of the pine thicket. Though expecting to be challenged, you continue down the trail in silence and solitude but for the rustle of the trees and the skittering of creatures best not looked upon by any sane dragon.

After an eternity of oh-so-slightly hurried walking and nervous glances over your shoulder, you eventually emerge into a small clearing. The dim blue light shed by countless softly-glowing mushrooms is a welcome relief after the oppressive darkness of the trail.

Suddenly, your heart leaps into your throat as you realize a dragon has been sitting in the center of the clearing, staring directly at you. You could swear it wasn't there just a second ago, yet it looks not to have moved in centuries. "Greeting, traveler," it rasps in a voice of dead air and cold earth. "I am Aquae, Protector of Clan Dassirr'. The Nightwalker has been expecting you."
