CLAN LORE
Purpose
Deep in the lair of the Clan of the Midday Sun is a machine that paints the skies in reds and golds in the morning and night. The Clan gathers every morning before the Lightweaver draws her sun-bearing chariot through the skies to ready the light-bearer. They are but small dragons, not close to the Lightweaver, not noticed, but they work nonetheless. They craft weapons and tools, make clothing and build brilliant metal statues.
They work at night. They light lanterns burning hot and dim overhead and get to work crafting and creating machinery beyond any dragon’s imagination. Some Clan dragons specialize in some certain type of mechanics. There is a small team that repairs the Lightweaver’s sun-reigns, a team that builds beautiful golden statues to place on thrones to their deity, a few dragons who craft jewelry. They all work, and they all love to create.
Many Clan of the Midday Sun dragons bear the marks of the Mechanic, the circuit gene that predisposes them to a strong engineer’s mind. Some even choose to convert their genes to match. Primary colors tend to be dark, and even when not they are usually dusty and dimmed anyways, due to their home deep inside the Clan lair.
The Lair
You may enter the lair from a few hidden locations, perhaps from one tucked behind brush and trees at the second-highest peak of the mountain. Once inside, you might fly through any number of the winding tunnels down to the Common Ground. Here is a wide space with the hoard piled in the center and paths through the mountain that funnel in shoals of brilliant golden light.
Each dragon or mate-set has their own private cavern, equipped with more of these light-shoals and room enough for anything they choose. They might keep personal building projects, or raise their own hatchlings here—though there is a Nester to care for the babies.
Deeper still, and mainly lit by lanterns, there are workshops. Every kind of metalworking, engineering, or artisanship can be found down here. A myriad of raw ores piled in one room, a collection of abandoned statues in another, a walking, talking, flying automaton in the next. Every wonder, hidden away in the lair.
That’s not to say the Clan of the Midday Sun is not proud of their work. Their pieces can be found presented in shrines in Sornieth, collected in galleries, bought for homes, in electrics works, on display, and in their own gallery in the Common Ground.
Intentions
There is no strict leader of the clan, each is their own. They decide all things together, they nest together to produce more acolytes, and they work to make each other better. Some workshops have leaders, such as Araksanna, the Guide for the automaton’s shop. Others are run on a team basis, like the small coalition of dragons that care for the Lightweaver’s tools.
The clan runs on community and creativity. All are welcome to join, and all are welcome to leave when they are finished.
