Dragonkind has discovered much about the earth, the skies, and the seas; now the Arcanist seeks to catalogue knowledge of the stars. He tasks Paravel with forming some kind of Association to look into "all that space stuff". She creates the Starwing Space Association, devoted to learning the workings of universe itself and to somehow traveling to that indomitable void, on the small, nearly-uninhabited island of Prism.

Mere weeks later, Paravel vanishes, and while there's no indication of foul play, her daughter Ayana is convinced that Something happened. What is on Prism? Or, more exactly, what is in the skies above Prism, and what does it know?
