I've got Three Body Problem on my "to read" list! I have to get my hands on the book sometime soon. And I absolutely agree, some written forms simply cannot be translated to a movie format. They lose way too much of their original charm and/or meaning.

Haha, I overall have a very peculiar relationship with my characters, and it's all very closely tied to my perception of reality in general, so yes, my beloveds aren't plot-building tools to me by any means. They're my dearest family and I can't imagine my life without them :)

Haha, thank you so much! 💙💙 Also man, do I wish I could actually write while listening to metal. Unfortunately, I can only listen to stuff without lyrics when writing, as otherwise I start to focus on the lyrics instead of the words that I'm supposed to write :P

Also!! You've seen the Cloud Atlas movie too! That's grand, I saw it ages ago thanks to a friend and I absolutely loved it :) You're 100% right, both the book and the movie are great, each in its own unique way!

I'm so sorry to hear you've been going through a rough patch! Unfortunately, I can relate, as May has been very hard for me.

Awh gosh, thank you so much!! 🩵🙏 I'm just doing my best to tell my characters' stories :) They did me the honour of choosing me as their artist, so now I must do everything in my humble power to get their stories out there!

SO ironically, that's a tough question for me to answer! The main inspiration behind all my art is simply music. Besides being a die-hard dark ambient fan, I'm also an old metalhead, and so many of my art projects spawned from songs or albums, in one way or another. When it comes to reading, I can 100% recommend Jeff VanderMeer, Neil Gaiman, and I'm absolutely in love with David Mitchell's Cloud Atlas. I also enjoy crime novels, with Jo Nesbø being my favourite author in the genre :)

What about you? Do you enjoy reading, or do you prefer other forms of art (besides music, hehe)?

And aw, thank you so much for asking! 🩵 I write both, as some of my art projects are centered around short stories, and others are fully-fledged books, or several of them, even. It's usually a lot of cyberpunk and science fiction, because even when I don't intend to fall into that pit, I inevitably end up doing so HAHAH

I love the way you put the "artist experience" into words, that's beautiful! I agree, we most certainly have the privilege to feel emotions in a more profound way, so to speak.

Yeah, precisely. His work is simultaneously very dark (like in Grief of the Living) and extremely uplifting (The Reflection Tower, We All Turn To Stars). And Flowers For Bodysnatchers is great!

HAH, never tell me the odds! That's amazing. I don't believe I heard Goddess before, I have to check it out! And same here, dark ambient relaxes me immensely, so I very often listen to it while falling asleep :)

Oh absolutely, I do understand why most people aren't dark ambient fans, hah (I say, listening to a dark ambient mix as I type this). My dad is a perfect example of that, he's fundamentally unable to enjoy this kind of music ;P Do your family members/friends have a similar reaction?

Also the phrase "darkness holds so much beauty" is wonderful and so true. To me, dark ambient is peaceful and comforting, not disturbing or uneasy. I usually listen to my dark ambient playlists while writing, it really helps set the mood!

Oh man yes, field recordings are GRAND! I remember stumbling upon this particular mix https://youtu.be/ebXaa_L4EzE?list=PLD17E4CE5DDA00A40 years ago and being mesmerised by it. Mount Shrine's pieces are wonderful, it's such a shame that the creator passed away. As for my preferences, my top favourite creator is 100% God Body Disconnect, I love the type of dark ambient he creates 🖤 But others are, of course, great as well! I usually love more melodic pieces :)

Apologies for the slow reply. Funnily enough, I first checked your profile/lair back when you still had Ugasanie, and I vividly remember thinking to myself, "No way, there's just no way someone on FR listens to the same dark ambient artists as me" hahaha. Do you have favourite tracks/albums?
And I agree, there are not many dark ambient listeners out there in general, so talking to someone who shares the interest is an incredible serotonin boost :) What other music do you enjoy, if you don't mind me asking?

A bit of a random message, but: I spotted your username in the forums and I was like "No way, someone apparently familiar with Zoroastrianism", and then I looked through your lair. Gorgeous dragons, of course, but what immediately caught my eye were their names. I've never casually encountered someone who'd listen to the same dark ambient artists as me. Keosz, Enmarta, Tineidae. It's genuinely the first time that I've come across another dark ambient lover in the wild and it feels incredible.
