You find yourself in a darkening thicket of bamboo, the pads of your feet quiet against the pressed soil. Absentmindedly, you follow a series of twisting paths that confuse and disorient, somehow unable to recall whether you were coming or going to this forest of reeds.

As the hours pass and night falls, you become certain that you are being watched. Hidden eyes peer at you from the thick walls of cane, the occasional muffled wingbeat betraying your observer's presence.

In what you hope to be a firm and commanding voice, you call out, "...Show yourself, if you are there." Perhaps they won't notice the tremble underneath your words.

A colorful and curious nocturne, tiny and bright, chirps at you from above. "Have you lost your way?" Her twinkling eyes reveal the laughter behind her query - certainly she knows you are lost, and perhaps even expects you to be.

"I suppose I've let you wander long enough. Come, the lair is just through here." She pulls aside a cleverly camouflaged screen of woven mosses with her whiplike tail, eagerly beckoning you forward.
