The Vita Nuova Clan

Born of the two dragons PinkDeath and IceCold finding their charge in each other. Together they look after one another and whoever else they may stumble across.

Vita Nuova translates to New Life, and that’s what these two intend to give to those who seek it.

Ice and Death established their shared lair in the Sundial Terrace. It is here that they lived for years happy and alone. From time to time, they would venture out in the inhospitable lands looking for dragons in need of food and shelter. They often would share parts of their hoard with a starving dragon and offer them a place in the lair. During most of these occurrences, however, they were turned down. This, of course, hurt their pride. As Guardians, the need to feel as if they are accomplishing the task they set out to do is second nature. There would be days where Ice would want to stay in the lair, sulking in a deep depression that Death could barely bring her out of. On days like these, he would stand to watch over the lair, occasionally looking back in to make sure his partner was okay.

Nearly a decade had gone by and Ice’s depression was only worsening. She had lost the love for her chosen purpose, and Death had an idea of how to try to get it back.

“We have wandered the world together. We had helped many, fed and sheltered many. Yet you are still unhappy. I watch you day after day in an attempt to formulate a solution to your depression. Take a look around our lair. See all that we have accomplished. Look at the drakes we call our family. Though we refer to them as such, I believe it is time we had a family of our own. Together we will raise strong and willful dragons. One’s ready to change the world once they begin their Search.”

Ice lifted her head to look at the dragon who she has spent the majority of her adult life with and smiled.

Together they brought into the world 4 beautiful hatchlings: Rose, Tulip, Frost and Spike.

From the day their hatchlings arrived, Ice’s motivation slowly began to renew itself in a different form. Now her purpose was to raise her children to be strong minded. Her only dread is the day they leave their home for the last time.

Death fell in love at the sight of his four new children. Ice was kind enough to let him name the only boy of the litter, Spike. Between feeding times and family time, Death would escort his children on hunts and scavenges. He taught them which plants and insects were poisonous and which were nutritious. He showed them how to hunt for their own meat and how to fish. His goal was to make sure his children can hold their own. He knows better than anyone how hard The Search can be. His hopes of making sure his offspring will survive in the world are only matched by the love he and Ice feel for them.
