Discuss everything and anything Flight Rising.

Felicitous salutations. Earlier today, or yesterday (my sleep schedule is very confusing), I was staring at my bookshelf and decided to take a quick look at my "DragonArt - How to Draw Fantastic Dragons and Fantasy Creatures" book that I have purchased between three-fifths to nine-tenths of a decade ago (a J "NeonDragon" Peffer book for anyone who did not know or guess).

After flipping through the pages, I have wondered what her art is like now at this point and soon I have found her deviantART. In there, I have discovered that this "Flight Rising" project she and others had been working on was "nearing its launch". Of course, when I clicked the link to the website, to my surprise, the game had been released on that very day for non-headstarters. Of course I felt a little guilty that I did not wait for months or even years like some of you have, but I quickly established an account, thus being one of the first non-headstarters to make an account. This was, according to Inaugurus' age, 12 hours ago (very confusing sleep schedule).

Of course, the purpose of the thread is these questions that could either be discussed or confirmed: How many headstarters were there? Are there currently more headstarters than non-headstarters? What about 12 hours ago when I joined? Are these answers answerable? How many of you have known about this game for a while, but did not become a headstarter (thereby joining the non-headstarter club)? How many of you, like myself, had only just recently discovered this game (either by chance or through word-of-mouth)? Did I blab too much? I apologise if I have. I just felt that that introduction was necessary (especially considering that it is my first post).

Oh, and don't be intimidated by the number of questions. I have found in the past that when I ask that many questions, some feel as though they need to answer them all and don't post, thus my threads have a low discussion rate. Perhaps I'm just horrible at making threads (though do not discuss my thread-making aptitude—that is not the topic).

Well looking at the kickstarter http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stormlightworkshop/flight-rising-0 there was over 800 backers. Though the actual amount that participated in the headstart was around 650 (I know this because right when the game launched someone got the account # of 666)

I myself knew about the kickstarter and was very tempted to back but I'm probably one of the only people that doesn't care for the imperial breed so I opted not to in the end. The other cosmetic stuff didn't interest me much either. (cept the crowns of course! Which I've already bought 3 of :3c )

I have known about the site for about 3 weeks, but was unable to afford a kickstarter donation. :(

I've long had Neon Dragon's books, I've got both her dragon books because I love her style so much. It was through watching her on DeviantART that I found out about this site. I probably would have waited and not donated any money if it wasn't for the fact that I've been looking for a site like this for at least a decade. I couldn't NOT donate. Plus, I got two more books out of the deal :D

Because of the styling of this game, those of us who got the "headstart" didn't get much of a headstart. Considering dragons must wait 15 days between breeding (up to 35 for rarer breeds) and hatchlings take at least 5 days to mature, We're not that far ahead! haha. I'd say the biggest thing about the "headstart" is just the items people received if they donated certain amounts.

Thank you everyone for your responses, and especially thank YOU Amyth for those stats. Now is there a way of determining the number of created accounts? I suppose that all I must do to obtain the first few answers is by subtracting the total by ~650 and comparing the results. Is there any way we could determine the number if created accounts? Could an administrator be able to determine such stats?

And I suppose that three days isn't *that* much, but I still feel slightly behind when I see some others' Dragon Lairs and whatnot. I've discovered that some had even had bred their dragons a number of times. Was this accomplished through gems, or some other mechanics I'm not aware about?

I am nervous about thread posting as well, but don't worry! Community is awesome. ^^ Slow threads are never dead, IMO, so try to keep your head up. ^^

I knew about this for a few months, about 6 I'd say- I only recently learned of Neon's books in the last year, though I've been on Deviantart for about 6 years, and was intrigued by her style and thus, learned of the game. :D I was able to back on kickstarter, although the part I'm looking forward to most are the art books that was offered in the campaign. I've spread the word of FR to many of my "real life" friends, because I feel it would help them understand my passion for dragons, although that's another topic entirely. >XD

Like the others said, about 800 backers on the site, but before today the most people I ever saw online was just under 300, where today has been 700 and over! I am just happy there are plenty of people who wanted to join today because I feel this experience should be shared with as many people as possible. ^^

Hope it's above your expectations, @Apoptosis! Glad you're here. :D

Edit: Breeding cooldown cannot be altered, though if people were buying first gen dragons without a breeding CD, they could have bred a second time. Gems can buy maturity scrolls (so instead of waiting 5 days for your hatchlings to mature, they can do so instantly), and you can also buy different gene scrolls, though again, the breeding CD will be consistent. Hope that answers that! ^^

I, uh, actually checked how many accounts were created total before the public start of Flight Rising. There were 714 accounts. XD Seeing as I checked about... 15? minutes before the actual opening, it should be pretty accurate.

...I was bored okay.

I have all 3 (I think there is still only 3?) of NeonDragon's art books. I've followed her art for many years and for nearly all of them she's held the top spot as my favorite artist. I think I first heard of FR in the comments under "The Firelord Burninates" concept piece.

All it said was something like "God concept for the Flight Rising project" and I didn't really know what that meant, so I didn't think about it. (I think this was in '08?)

It wasn't until the posts on Deviantart started coming up saying that it was in beta that I began to anticipate the game.

I wasn't intending to pledge at first, but I gave in to the temptation of being allowed in early, and it also meant I wouldn't have to use Twitter anymore.

That was very helpful. Thank you, @Paradoxical (did I do that correctly?). Wait a moment, are you still able to check the number of accounts created now? Where would we locate such a stat?

And... @Reithya? I hope that I'm doing that correctly. I recall witnessing some fertile parents producing five young. After clicking randomly through my history, I miraculously found the exact dragon parents I was looking for (Prowler's Niakke and Saelyth). I then looked at Prowler's Clan Profile and saw that their clan had "Earned: Congrats on Quintuplets!" in the recent activity. I suppose that that would explain things.

Yes. You can go to Search, then just click Search Users and all of the users will pop up. Currently there are 2940 accounts total.
