My name is Douka. These ruins have been haunted for years, but there was a disturbance some months ago and the number of deathrisen has shot up dramatically. Adventurers seeking lost treasures are bound to be disappointed - if they survive. This was no city of gold, or ancient burial ground of kings. So why are you here?
Douka pulls her mask over her face and seems to vanish into the gloom, leaving you alone. There is no birdsong or crickets, and very little light penetrating the tangle of brambles and needles, but you pick out a narrow path by the eerie glowing of mushrooms. It branches in a Y, one leading North, the other seeming to continue straight, in a fashion. Before you can decide which way to go, a small, lithe figure drops down before you. Your first instinct is to go on the defensive, but… it’s just a strange little nocturne. Huge, Arcane-glowing eyes seem to assess you, before a mischievous, toothy grin spreads nearly ear to batty ear.

This raffle is open as of 25 May until the story is finished (estimate: beginning of September, with hopefully bi-weekly updates) , although various prizes will be awarded throughout in the form of random events or “quest” rewards.

Each ticket (referred to as a “point” or “pt”) can EITHER go towards the final prize drawing OR be spent in various ways (see column notes in the “Spent” tab of the spreadsheet for elaboration)

I have the right to extend or cut short the raffle at my discretion.

There will be no refunds.

Each person can win only one dragon prize pack and one item prize pack. (Dragons come with their art/apparel/familiars/skins, item packs can be a single item or multiple)

Tickets will be tracked via spreadsheet and winners will be drawn using randompicker.com

Notify me if you change your username before prize drawings.

Ping Sivi if you have any questions and before sending dragons if you are claiming a daily bonus. Also, make sure you include which faction you want your dragons credited towards (Soulpurge Cov. or Deathrisen) or they will go to whichever currently has less!

Always send 1-way crossroads instead of messages for tickets and MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE A NOTE about it being for CARPE with your crossroads. If you are sending a lot of dragons I also appreciate if you can include their IDs and what lvl they are. I will calculate your tickets but if you want to include your own it will help let me know if there is a perceived disparity.

Please be patient and respectful. If you win a dragon and later decide you don’t want them, I would strongly prefer you not exalt them (I will happily take them back if you quit or something). If you choose to change the gender/sexuality and one was stated for the character, you will lose the right to associate my art with the dragon, because while the art is part of the prize, they are my creations and I reserve the right to use them again or re-sell the art at my discretion (but I won't as long as you respect the character).
The skydancer beckons you to follow her through a break in the brambles that you didn’t notice before, forming a kind of tunnel. You walk together silently in the near-darkness until finally it seems to lighten and you emerge near the shore. Across the water, you can barely make out a jagged rockface that must be Earthside.
Douka gestures towards the treeline. “Just follow the shore and you should find their camp without too much trouble, even through the mist. Look for an Imperial named Irik, he seems to be the one coordinating the Covenant’s operations. And good luck to you. Everything I’ve heard is that the waves of deathrisen seem unending.” With that, she turns back to the tunnel and is gone.

The Wildclaw nods, “You’ll have to surrender your weapons before they’ll let you in.” He steps aside, allowing you to pass. You consider asking his name, but that felt like a dismissal, so you go on.

Entering through the sturdy gate after having your belongings checked, you take in the camp. Tidy and strangely hushed, it seems more like the size of a clan than an army. Looks like the odds definitely favor the undead, if there are as many as you’ve been lead to believe. You make your way to what is clearly the command tent. One canvas wall is rolled up and inside two imperials in shining golden armor are talking with a robed skydancer, in tones too soft to be overheard. Seeing your approach, one of the imperials steps out to meet you.

Irik gestures you to follow him and you notice the other Imperial and the Skydancer are gone. You see a table taking up most of the tent, with a crisp map spread over it.
“Here is our camp. It may seem an inconvenient distance from the ruins, but it’s necessary that our staging area and operations be well back from the lines of battle, even if our fortifications are solid.” He slides his finger from the camp’s symbol to a path that runs roughly parallel to the treeline, then into the woods and to a cluster of buildings that must be the ruins.
“Ghostlight consists of four watch towers surrounding a central stronghold and few other buildings. The Northwest tower, which we believe was the original one built ages ago by Shadow Flight, is completely collapsed, and the walls that once connected to it easily breached. Deathrisen primarily come out there, and while we have fighters at the ready day and night, we are barely keeping them at bay.
For the most part it’s undead beasts. The largest are hooved creatures, comparable in size to our Guardian and Ridgeback troops, but with clawed hands the size of platters. If they don’t slash you to ribbons, they’ll gore you with their horns. But the packs of wraithounds are probably the most dangerous, since there can be anything from three to dozens at a time, and working together, unlike the rest. Occasionally there will be undead dragons as well, but they seem to be the remains of hapless travelers rather than warriors, shambling quite mindlessly. Still ravenous though - their bite will poison you as surely as any of the others. And if you do get bitten, you’d better hope it’s on a limb, because amputation is the only thing that would save you.
Then there are the winged ones - undead vultures and Corven that we have no hope of containing. Their smaller size lets them fly despite the brambles and pines that keep us grounded. Thankfully, for whatever reason, something seems to keep them from straying too far from the ruins, but occasionally they attack the camp directly. Our archers can usually handle them, but they’re the most persistent threat outside the ruins themselves, and our patrols are stretched much too thin to keep every traveler in the area safe.”
Irik pauses after sweeping a finger around the presumed flight radius, and taps back over the stronghold at the center of the ruins. “We haven’t managed to get inside of there, but we’re assuming it contains whatever is responsible for all of this. Don’t go trying any heroics though, it’s best you either take sky patrol or a guard rotation outside the ruins.” The Imperial takes in the expectant look on your face and gets an annoyed look on his own. “Let me guess, what’s in it for you? If you impress my officers with your battle prowess and number of enemies slain, you’ll be compensated. You’re allowed two meal rations a day, one before leaving and one on return. And you may have a cot and trunk for your belongings in one of the sleeping tents.” He turns his back on you, and you take it as your cue to leave.
