Errrrrg. i am subscribed to this

How do people do it? Every time i try to motivate myself to write something all my energy drains away. Or maybe i just think my ideas are stupid.

This is the post i will use to catalogue my suspicious ideas for lair lore. Inspiration is welcome, i know i need it.

the first suspicious idea

Crystals: Your clan likes crystals, they like shiny things, they dig for shiny things. They sell the shiny things. They become shiny dergs. They also have a tendency to collect lost eggs and hatch them as well as hoard random things.

So well written, so much detail.

the second suspicious idea

Normal derg: Your clan is just a group of dragons, they don't really have much of anything special going on, aside from maybe their personalities. Oh, their choice of attire too, for those that have it anyway. Should i include auction bought dergs? Perhaps i should gloss over buying or selling my dergs. What about exalted dergs?

Seems boring, still no real detail.

My goodness i did not expect this to get shoved to page 2 reliably every single day. No one has any advice at all? Or no one has read this, or...

the third suspicious idea

Terrible tert: Make it a thing that all your tert colors are hard to work with. That your entire lair is full of dergs with hard to work with tert colors. Yes, you could have ignored the tert, you don't even have to gene the tert. But you like self-torture, so your trying to gene everyone anyway, and hating yourself every time you consider keeping any of the children, who also have difficult tert colors thanks to your poor color ranges. How did this happen again? Maybe describe the moment you realized your future was full of torture.

How do you write dragon bios based off this? At the moment, i do not know.

I have the same problem. I think of ideas, but as soon as I go to write them down, all my energy drains and I feel like its impossible. I have been trying to finish my lair CYOA for over a year! I started doing something I call Pinker-projects and today was the first day writing some of the storylines for my CYOA has come up as the days task. I actually managed to write out on paper 3 storylines and got one of them typed in. 2 more to go for today. Its so exhausting though!

As for inspiration, have you looked at Shian's Lore Building 101 series or that list Dew made on their blog of 75 lore questions?

Hey, advice! Yay! Thanks!

My first honest thought: 1) too many questions to answer {collapse, zzzzz}

Hahahaha. I can be especially lazy. However, they are good questions.

I guess it's easy to get daunted thinking everything has to happen at once.

I could build it piece by piece. Upon thought, i need to set realistic goals, instead of just looking at someone's 5,000 word lair description and becoming discouraged.

oops

Here is a fun question though, where to begin?

Maybe i could tackle one question a day.

First off though, did i have any more suspicious ideas?

hmmmm nope. Not really.

1) What flight is your clan? Arcane.

Hah, that was easy.

Can't wait to get to the tough ones. Should be torture fun.

2) Why did they choose this flight? Because i like to dream, pretty much everything about the theme of the arcane flight is something i enjoy. Plus who can deny that the Arcanist having four wings is the coolest thing ever?

Oh wait, it's not supposed to be 'me' who answers this. I'm supposed to come up with some random story of why my derg ended up in Crystalspine Reaches.

Which means i'm free to create any convoluted reason i wish likely. Which means it's back to the suspicious idea drawing table, only it's for this question instead of my lair lore. hah. This got tough pretty fast didn't it?

the first suspicious idea on why this spot

Because my derg was attracted to the arcane energies. They felt some sort of pull there because for one reason or another they wanted to use dragon magic. What better place to use dragon magic then a spot that's infused with magic? Floating spires to investigate? check Experimental magic stuff to investigate? check

Plus no one yells at you when something goes wrong, it's almost expected, and is just another result to catalogue. Learn, craft, experiment, create, with magic. It's a bunch of fun, and something you can't do anywhere else as freely. Probably.

Personally- I write some stuff down, and then I go to my writing buddies to help me fill in the gaps, or rewrite some things that seem dumb.

I have that whole manic depression thing (thus the lack of energy to do it, although I have so many 'ideas' for lore)

So having a good support system helps out.

More heads, the better!

I don't have writing buddies for this site. At least not really.

the second suspicious idea on why this spot

Someone once suggested my guardian's charge could be the Arcanist. Not that he needs protection, except maybe from inadvertently causing the end of the world. i still think this happened only one time, why does crim believe the speaker counts? Browsing around a charge can be almost anything. Could it be even the floating spires? hah. If it was the Arcanist, my derg would have to know about him somehow, even if the Arcanist isn't aware of my derg, being that the Arcanist spends all his time in the observatory.

At any rate, the more ideas i come up with, the more i have to choose from. But which one? hmmm... likely just have to decide which one i think is the best.

\o/ {yay. decisions!}
