The inn was full of visitors hoping to see the spectacular display of polar lights in the night sky of the Southern Icefields. During the day, the place was bustling - the attached coffee shop was a huge draw due to both the cold weather outside and the tasty beverages served. While sipping on your hot chocolate, you glance over and see a notice posted on a board. Apparently the clan is collecting tales of legendary artifacts. You happen to know a tale or two - and no plans for the next day...
An elderly Guardian dragon is standing at the entrance of what appears to be a library. Just beyond him, you can see some cozy reading areas and shelves of books lining the walls.
"Welcome to Clan Diamond Dust," he said, carefully looking you over. "I take it you are here to provide the information we requested?"
Without pausing, he leads you inside. "You may be wondering why we have asked for clans to bring tales of lost artifacts to our clan. Hmmphhh. Light dragons, of course, have a reputation of producing scholars," he said rather proudly (clearly a scholar himself, judging by the books he carried). "Arcane dragons, of course, love dealing with magical energies - they may have even created many of the artifacts lost to history. Earth dragons love gemstones and history, so it makes sense that..."
The Guardian continues on, going through seemingly every flight and their connection to legendary artifacts. With his monologue more suited to a lecture hall with a class of eager students, your attention wanders to the surroundings, taking in the walls of glorious books and artwork. Realizing that your guide has stopped speaking, you guilty swing your attention back his way.
"...and as I was saying," he glares at you, "Ice dragons aren't given enough credit for their interest in preserving our history and making sure the information is documented for future scholars. As such, artifacts are very important to my clan and preserving the knowledge of them is even more important. Wands, weapons, cursed or blessed gems, random magical doodads - we want to catalog them all. And that's why we put out the call for volunteers to share their stories with us."
The Guardian points down the hallway.
"We have a scribe standing by, if you need assistance - otherwise, there is parchment and ink in the atrium to record your information. Our resident artist has also kindly provided some supplies as well, should you wish to add an illustration."
He hands you a scroll and heads back to the entrance, presumably to wait for additional volunteers.
You open the scroll and read:
Welcome to the library of Clan Diamond Dust. We hope you will find the work area comfortable and suited to your needs. Please see one of the attendants if you have any questions or need assistance. By the end of this week, we hope to have a wonderful collection of myths and legends surrounding magical artifacts and we thank you for your contribution.
