ONE LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS Figured I'd help people out with a guide for some Glimmer and Gloom solutions. I'll start with text descriptions, but I'm working on getting images uploaded. Most important so far is the most complex, Centered, as you'll find other patterns easily recognizable along its solution. So if you're surrounded, you're only 4 steps away, have all the top or all the bottom isolated? you're only 5 steps away! I call this One Light in the Darkness due to the fact that once you have one tile that is the only representative of its color it is easy to go from there to solutions following set patterns. We'll start off with the easy mode. The easy mode consists of two rows of three sandwiching a row of four, or ten total tiles, and yet there are only four possible ways to have one tile lit: [Columns] Centered -XOX- XXXX -XXX- Corner -OXX- XXXX -XXX- End -XXX- OXXX -XXX- and Middle -XXX- XOXX -XXX- [nextcol] [/columns] Each possible position of only one tile of a given color will be a rotation of one of these four. ONE LIGHT IN THE DARKNESS

Figured I'd help people out with a guide for some Glimmer and Gloom solutions.

The easy mode consists of two rows of three sandwiching a row of four, or ten total tiles, and yet there are only four possible ways to have one tile lit:

Each possible position of only one tile of a given color will be a rotation of one of these four.

I'll number each position from the upper left

Three Lights in the Darkness There are 120 possible combinations of three in a field of ten, but by symmetry there are far fewer unique positions, and many of them decompose quickly to other solutions. For example [Columns] -OXX- XXOO -XXX- and -XXX- OOXX -OXX- are each effectively one click away from -OOO- XXXX -XXX- [nextcol] [/columns] Which is just an flipped step 3 in the centered One Light solution. So lets look at possibilities for 3 lights starting with 1-2 lit. 1-2-3 we just looked at, it is solved in step 3 of the Centered One Light solution, so I'll annotate it 1LCenter#3 1-2-4 is also solved at 1LCorner#3. See it? it is flipped across a diagonal, so its solution would be 4,6,1 instead of 7,5,10. 1-2-5 is solved at 1LEnd#2 1-2-6 is solved by 5, 8 1-2-7 is important. By clicking 8 it gives us another nice pattern to look out for: a third file chain. [Columns] -XXO- XXOX -XXO- [/columns] If we click the isolated color (7 here) it'll give us a flipped version of 1LEnd, so we know the solution is 3,10,4,7,5. But since that requires hitting 7 twice, we can drop both. So the solution from here is 3, 10 (giving us an flipped 2nd file chain!) 4 (flipped 1st file chain), then finally 5. This effectively solves all possible vertical chains of 3, so I figure it's worth the images. 1-2-8 is just 4,1 from 1LCorner so it can be solved by 4,1,2,6,7,5,10 1-2-9 can be solved by 10,2,4,5,6. 1-2-10 is just 9,5 from 1LEnd, so it can be solved by 9,5,1,8,7,4,6 Whew. That'll do me for tonight. More later if people find this worth while.
Three Lights in the Darkness

There are 120 possible combinations of three in a field of ten, but by symmetry there are far fewer unique positions, and many of them decompose quickly to other solutions.

-OXX-

are each effectively one click away from

1-2-8 is just 4,1 from 1LCorner so it can be solved by 4,1,2,6,7,5,10

1-2-9 can be solved by 10,2,4,5,6.

1-2-10 is just 9,5 from 1LEnd, so it can be solved by 9,5,1,8,7,4,6

Glad you are enjoying it. I'll keep going with the 3 combinations if people find it worthwhile, and I'll probably only do the patterns of 2 that are instantly recognizable. (else it'll go on forever and be more of a hassle than an aid.

Had a look at ya example for one of the '1 tile', and im sitting here going 'did i accidentally do all those moves in reverse to that one tile, and never figured it out?'

So im just gonna favorite this thread.
Thank you so much <3
