Welcome to the Big Bad Flight Guide, aka Flight Guide V3!
The previous guides done by nerd and Istoki respectively are fantastic and they included a lot of important information, but I noticed that a lot of people what to know what internal communities in each Flight were like! This was even true for myself, having to change flights twice before I found the place I felt was right for me. In order to deliver an even more comprehensive guide, I went through the process of creating this new one, with the extra information about the members of the flight's attitudes and in-flight activities!

Changing Your Flight
First things first, changing your flight is the primary purpose of this guide. Many users feel like their first choice might not have been the best choice and they want to find a different community. That's fine! And totally understandable. So, if you want to change your flight, you'll need to know the basics.

- Your First Flight Change is Free -
Everyone gets one free flight change, in case they feel they made the wrong decision upon joining the flight. The cool-down for this change is 90 days in order to make sure you get a chance to experience the flight prior to changing. I used my free change to go from Shadow to Plague.

- Every Flight Change After The First Is 1500g -
Second, third, fourth, and so on. Each change after your first will be 1500g or about 15 USD. Surprisingly, a lot of users will pay this price to change their flight, since your flight can have a significant impact on your experience, depending on how you play! Just this past year, I saved up the 1500g to join Light Flight because of the community!

Why Do Flights Matter?
Truthfully, they do not entirely matter to the game's experience. While they change the aesthetic of the site around you, and the color of your hatchlings' eyes, unless you participate in the communities of the flights, there isn't a huge difference between them. This guide includes the information needed for both players who are involved in the community and those who are not, so everyone can get the best result.

How Do I Choose A Flight?
There are many things to keep in mind whenever you choose a flight, so here is an overview of each thing you need to keep in mind.

Dominance
Dominance is the basis for a lot of in-flight activities and possibly has one of the largest effects on how each player enjoys the site. Getting in the top 3 spots for dominance gives every member of the flight particular bonuses for the week they hold their spot. Head on over to the Dominance Board to see this week's standings, and who is on the top for next week. Some flights hold dominance more often than others, bringing varying levels of dominance participation.

Aesthetic
Each flight has unique eye colors, lairs, and styles that go along with being a part of that flight. You can learn more about the details of aesthetics in each flight's post.

Lore
This is largely for those who love a good story for their clan. Every Flight has lore and a Deity or Dragon God to match. The lore for each flight's location and deity can be found in both the Flight Guide pages below and among the Encyclopedia.
If you do like lore, I heavily encourage you to read the history of Sorienth in the encyclopedia.

Community
If you like to communicate with other players, this is the biggest factor. In this guide you'll find details on everything from Subspecies to In-Flight Activities for each flight on the site. Remember that you can't judge a flight by only a few members as well, so expect to run into some people who may differ from the general community of a flight!

As you go through this guide, please remember to keep these key questions in mind, as they relate to how you want to use the site:
Do I want to be involved in Dominance?
Do I want to breed dragons, and if so, what types of pairs?
Do I like the Flight's Aesthetic overall?
Do I want a more fun or more competitive community?
Do want to roleplay and have clan lore?
Do I want active forums or slower ones?
Does this flight have like-minded people to me?

Dominance Involvement:
Over-all the Arcane flight enjoys dominance but does not have the intricate systems in place that flights like Light and Plague do. As a testament to this, they have had Top Dominance much less than most of the other flights. Does that bother them? Not in the slightest. They prefer holding events that encompass more of the creatives and whimsical members than most of the other flights' Dominance events, catering to lore for clans and the community. Members' Opinions
Who better to tell you about a flight than its own members? Here are the opinions of other Mages on the sight!
OOF Opinions
Of course, all opinions must be respected, so here are how the other inhabitants of Sorienth feel about Arcane Flight!

Conclusion
Arcane is one of the largest flights on the site and does have a huge community. They are still working on solidifying their dominance system, but can easily hold top spot against even heavy hitters like Light. Less competitive and more fun-based, their Dom events involve the whole site! This is a perfect Flight for those who love doing community activities and for creative souls. With their space-y aesthetic, this flight's apparel and looks bring even out of flight players joy.

Possible downsides include the split community. Some want to be more involved than others and one person alone cannot be a perfect example of what this flight will be like. However, that kind of thing is to be expected for a flight with so many members. The biggest thing with choosing any flight is to remember to enjoy the site how you want, and don't let anyone tell you how to or not to participate in your flight's community.

It is amongst the larger rocks that the dragons here choose to roost, away from the shards of dancing stone. The difficult labour required to dig and sustain a lair in the Plain is the worst of the area's challenges, however, making it an ideal training ground for those intending to carve a living in the more dangerous parts of ancient Dragonhome. Greatwyrm's Breach The mighty break in the eggshell-shaped mountain range surrounding the Pillar, named for its visual allusion to the hatching of a new-born dragon. It is said that the gorge reaching westward towards the sea housed the first clans, and the intricate series of networked caverns that dot it support this claim. A storied realm for dragonkind, many of the old lairs here are known for their murals and cave-paintings telling of the ancient feats performed by the Elemental Gods in the shaping of the world. Cairnstone Rest Once an ancient burial ground, the Cairnstone Rest possesses the richest gem deposits in Dragonhome. Prospectors take care to avoid the imposing obelisks and standing stones, heeding well the warnings left for tomb robbers; however, in the digging of mines and expanding lairs, accidents can happen, and more than one clan has been driven from the area by skeletal wyrms. Creatures and dragons have been drawn to the battleground, calling for more to take arms either to defend their living and dead kin, or cull the intruders before too much harm is done. The Pillar of the World The sorrowful, crumbling remains of the final vestiges of peace between the elemental flights. It is this monument alone that towered above the world, acting as the base of a great magical shield whose purpose was to protect the land from the roaming Shade, a devouring plague of darkness. The Shattered Plain
A rocky, barren expanse of skittering stone and parched, packed dirt lined and featured with innumerable cracks.

Greatwyrm's Breach
The mighty break in the eggshell-shaped mountain range surrounding the Pillar, named for its visual allusion to the hatching of a new-born dragon.

Cairnstone Rest
Once an ancient burial ground, the Cairnstone Rest possesses the richest gem deposits in Dragonhome.

The Pillar of the World
The sorrowful, crumbling remains of the final vestiges of peace between the elemental flights. It is this monument alone that towered above the world, acting as the base of a great magical shield whose purpose was to protect the land from the roaming Shade, a devouring plague of darkness. The Earthshaker has existed here for time immemorial, both guarding and mourning the structure that once held his brothers and sisters together.

The Earth Dragons of Dragonhome are monument builders. They prefer the consistency and eternal memory of the stone they shape. Of all the dragons, Earth Dragons revere their ancestors the most fervently, and remember the most about the First Age. Gemstones are their favored treasure.

The Earthshaker stood alone at the plinth, alone at his altar, a singular figure to match the Pillar he was charged to maintain. Yet not to his task did he watch, for his moist eyes saw only the diminishing shapes of his siblings, gone, on the southern horizon, never to return…

Who better to tell you about a flight than its own members? Here are the opinions of other Icicles on the sight!
OOF Opinions
Of course, all opinions must be respected, so here are how the other inhabitants of Sorienth feel about Ice Flight!

Conclusion
This flight is filled with goal-oriented taskmasters. As vigilant as the Warden himself, they love to be involved in quests and fun tasks with the completed task as the best reward. Those soft white eyes are perfect for breeders, as they almost never look bad with any pair. The community really comes together and is very inviting when you get involved.

Possible downsides include the Aesthetic of the holiday apparel and skins. One must truly love the snow and ice of the frozen wastes for the aesthetic to work for them.

Everbloom Gardens
The lush, tropical growth of Everbloom Gardens entices the senses: beautiful tri-colored hummingbirds flit between blossoms, weaving a nectar-rich symphony in the brilliant flowers that blanket the forest floor and perfume the humid breeze. Succulent, low-hanging fruits grow ripe in trees on rivulets fed from deep pools of crystal-clear water. Fledgling dragons can begin their journey in the relative safety of the low-growing flora.

The Gladeveins
The Gladeveins contain a tiered structure of aqueducts and waterfalls running through fallen and hewn logs, a testament to the ingenuity of the woodland denizens. Water floods in controlled deluges, soaking the soil, washing clean the environment, and providing continual, refreshing sustenance for the tall timber forming the natural outer walls of the Viridian Labyrinth within.

Shrieking Wilds
The dense, jungly overgrowth of the Shrieking Wilds cloaks the land in darkness even during the day, creating a haven for the nocturnal beasts leaping between boughs and swinging from thick, ropy vines. Ancient mossy trees, wrapt and bent around twisting footpaths, forever quake with activity above, and the air is astir with the bellows of hidden creatures.

The Behemoth
An enormous tree at the heart of the maze. Some say that the Gladekeeper herself lives within its great trunk, while others believe that the tree itself is grown into her mighty flank. So colossally does it rise, that it is visible from nearly every horizon in the world, a reminder of the power of unbridled life.

Like an expansive festering scar, the edges of the Filthy One's domain have taken on a border conquest of their own. It will not be long until the encroachment begins to threaten foreign clans and flights.
