WELCOME TO THE NEW TUTORIAL, THIS TIME STARRING.... SKYDANCE, THE MOST MAJESTIC BREEDthough imperials could give them a run for their money
SO LETS GET STARTEEEEEEEEEDDDDDD
to start off, start with a nice circle for the base of the head and a nice noodly neck for the... neck! skydancers have some really noodly necks too. so graceful. my tip is to connect the neck towards the back/bottom of where your head is going to be (your sd is gonna be facing right) and make it thicker towards the head.
OKAY THIS IS GONNA BE A BIG STEP SO DONT BE AFRAID TO TAKE YER TIME
start with a nice looooong muzzle! go for a < kinda mouth. sometimes it helps to draw another circle at the end of the nose to help give you some volume. theres also a circle for the jaw. and a half circle for the eye! AND A CIRCLE FOR YOU, AND YOU, AND YOU, AND YOU! and dont forget to draw a bit of the underside of the mouth!
here's a breakdown of the muzzle of a SD. theres two parts to a mouth, the skull and the jaw. they connect in the back. when a SD (or anything with a jaw, for that matter) opens their mouth, it swings open from the skull that stays still! (actually crocodiles open differently but thats not what im talking about) hopefully this helps on how to draw the mouths well.
add some teef. start with the incisors, then draw the canines behind them, then just draw some other teeth like halfway down the mouth i dont know how teeth work im not an expert just draw it ok. give your SD some EYE RIDGES so their eye doesnt pop off its head! add some pupils and a nostril so your skydancer can see and smell. and a tongue, so it can taste as well. gotta get all dem senses.
nows time to add some DEETS TO YOUR DANCER. add the 3 small horns on the back of your SD's head and a line for the underbelly. dont forget the emotion sensing gem on its head, either! it needs it to judge you!
ADD. DEM. FEATHERS. they come from behind the 3 nubby horns and kinda end by the jaw! they actually go a bit further underneath the jaw but thats MY STYLE SO I DONT CARE. go over the eyes and add some wrinkles underneath to emphasize the smile. aw yeah.
time for the finishing touches! give your skydancer a mane and it's antennae! it needs them to sense emotions. i think. i'll go over drawing floof in a sec-
FLOOF IS IMPORTANT. it can make or break your fluffier breeds, like tundras! feathers are generally more rounded at the ends, while floof comes to a point. a good way to "size up" your floofs is to make each individual cluster a different size. don't go 1 2 3 with the size though! go 1 3 2! or 1 3 2 3 1 3 2 3 1 etc etc etc generate a random string of numbers of 1-3 or something and use that to determine your floof. or don't, i don't care. its your skydancer. just draw some floof and give it some volume aw yeeeeeee
now its time to line! put the lines on your majestic SD and don't forget ot add the other feathers behind the manethat you forgot to draw because they're kinda hidden as well as any extra detail lines you might want to add! AND THERE YA HAVE IT. SKYDANCERS.
