On top of it all, King Prospect watches and manages his subjects carefully. Hundreds of mouths to feed do need a responsible leader after all. One side of the Gelu Clan Fortress is well protected, the fog laden mountainous back making up more then half of the Fortress walls. The other half if well protected by Prospects guards, both inside and out. The Outer walls face an expansive valley speckled with pine trees and ice lakes used for ice fishing. The pines provide some shelter to prey that wander close but for the most part the hunters and trappers of the Gelu clan must make day trips in troops to further lands to gather the prey needed to fill the Gelu Dragons stomachs. Within Clan Walls The East Spire [emoji=silver crown] One of the largest ice and rock spires that crawl up the crags to overlook the Gelu Clan Fortress. The East Spire is also often called the Throne Rooms consist of three rooms connected by spiral stairs. The main room is composed of an open room with many large windows. A large cozy mattress of silk and satin pillows sits in the middle where King Prospect spends most of his time resting, in covered in his fae servants who obey his every command; feeding and grooming the large old tundra. Prospects subjects meet him in this room with their complaints, suggestions and requests. There is almost always a highly trusted guard to be found at his side, usually the old kings head guard and mate Berry. The Advisor, Alexios may also be found in here a lot of the time when hes not in the second Spire. A Frozen Goblin can often be found cuddled up with Prospect as this is his familiar. The second room is the kings vault and personal hoard. This room is above the Throne Room and beside his personal den. This has the Gelu Clans most prized possessions, their treasure, gemstones, and other valuable items. The third room is King Prospects den. This is a room about half the size of the throne room, full of cozy pillows and blankets. While usually he only goes here to sleep, he does go here from time to time when he needs his privacy or time with his Berry. Berry goes here to sleep about half the time as well since its big enough to accommodate both of them cozily. The West Spire [emoji=silver tiara] Here is where the observatory at the top and the advisors quarters is. Many dragons go here to meditate, seek guidance from the oracles or advisor and to watch the skies from the observatory. The observatory has a large window on the ceiling, allowing full vision of the passing skies without the aid of the telescope to the left. To the right of the room, there's a horseshoe of cozy pillows and blankets for the Advisors and oracles to sleep if they wish. Alexios, the advisor can be found up here most of the time, and the Weather Oracle Aliquam can be found up here almost always. The “Oasis” and Vent Saunas [emoji=nautilus] The Oasis is a pool of steamy water in a rocky basin in the middle of the Gelu Fortress. This water vent is used as a public bath and is how most dragons choose to warm up. A quick walk to one of the several chamber underground, Saunas of sorts resides where dragons can also warm up, or dry off after their bath as to not get sick. Dragons who do get sick are often suggested to stay in these chambers most of the day to stay warm and burn off their colds or flus. The water refills from the ground slowly so custodians don't have to worry about refilling it unless too many dragons get in at once. Occasionally they do have to chip the ice off the ground around it from the water spilling over though. The East Dens [emoji=crescent moon 2] This is where the servants, custodians, blacksmiths, item makers, hunters and gatherers sleep. While they may mingle with the West Dens (usually to see a mate) they typically sleep here. Oracles and monks will also often sleep here. Two guards will stand watch at night for them. It is connected to the nests. The East Den is very cozy, many pillows and blankets shared among the hoard of dragons. Each dragon gets their own cubby in the wall to keep a small hoard. There are sap nests above the other dragons on the roof for the Faes. The Nests is a cozy underground den that is connected to the East den. This is where Nest Tenders and hatchlings sleep and where eggs are stored to be looked after. Even without a Nest Tender around the eggs remain warm due to being close to the Oasis vent. The West Dens [emoji=sun] This is where the Inner and Outer Guards sleep. While they may mingle with the East Dens (usually to see a mate) they typically sleep here. Kaph and Breath and occasionally Berry also sleep here to keep an eye on their dragons. At least one guard will stay awake at night here. The West Den is a bit less cozy then the East Den,only getting a blanket for every second dragon. These dragons much more hardened then their servant counterparts after all. Luckily for them however there are quite a lot of tundras in these communal dens. Each dragon gets their own cubby in the wall to keep a small hoard. The West den is connected to the Armoury, this is where armour and weapons are stored for easy access to the guards. The Medic Ward [emoji=familiar heart] A cozy den a good way away from the dens to keep sick or injured dragons. The Community Hoard [emoji=apple] The Community Hoard is where the clans food and material is stored. Its strictly forbidden to go far into it, as going too far and a blizzard hitting is certain death for any dragon not covered in fur and clothes who is smart enough to dig themselves under the snow and ice for shelter. While the clan faces it directly, little curiosity about it is stricken for young dragons. They are told very clearly what will happen if they step too far into the Frozen Expanse. The Valley [emoji=bare tree] Just outside the rock and ice walls of the fortress lays a massive valley for dragons to spread their wings. While for the most part its barren, its safe from the heavy winds coming from the north because of the mountain the Gelu Clan is built into. Past the Valley to the south is the Frozen Expanse, the border marked by a few ice towers and a pocket of pine trees. Rabbits can be found here, often caught by traps checked daily. Within the Valley, a den under a massive pine-tree has been made to the west border. This den is inhabited by a very cranky male Guardian named Teda. Young dragons are advised to leave him alone, the elder simply taking care of his charge, a massive pine tree much taller then any other in the area that does not waver to the worst of storms. Most dragons are chased away from the area, though a few older or very young dragons have been invited into his cozy home during storms. Teda also lives with a mate. They are considered 'part of the family'; if ever they needed help King Prospect would be happy to give it. The Clan

Gelu is a word for frost, ice, snow; frosty weather; cold, chilliness

The valley lays quiet, dormant and almost lifeless. Snow slowly falls to gather upon the already laid out blankets of ice crystals. A mountain that towered above this particular area, clearly occupied by a number of dragons by the scouts who could be seen stretching their wings through the low laying clouds, gathering frost and fog over their scales, diving around and keeping an eye on the pine trees that provided the only shelter a intruder may use.

It was once the Beaumont Keep. Gaolers once made their home here, once being one of their many prisons. The ice walls were refuge for the hard working dragons who kept beasts of the shade encased in ice, from all orders Keepers and under. Above them all as leader, a Hayward, a cruel male, strict and authoritarian. To keep his prison running well, he needed more then the Gaolers who served the Icewarden. To accomplish that, he took in 20 stolen eggs from different clans around the Beaumont Keep, all of Tundras. These tundras served as unpaid custodians to Hayward; serving their god, as he'd describe. When really he meant was slaves to the clan... Many of the young tundras struggled to survive, the harsh reality of their situations too much for most of them. Only the strongest of them survived to adulthood when they could begin to help the Beaumont. The tundras were treated very lowly even after they could prove their worth, banned from entering the warming vents or saunas and having to suffer through cleaning up after beasts and fights between dragons even in the coldest, most miserable of weather. However, they were allowed to at least mingle with each other, find relationships between them and have their own. Many, even if they had found a mate would simply crush their eggs and not tend to them at all as they wished not for more hatchlings to go through the same servitude. This led to Hayward forcing the females to care for the eggs they brought to this world, if they were to loose their whole clutch dire consequences for them would be in order. The mares who still refused to care of their offspring were worked to the bone and minimally fed, leaving little choice for them. Mothers who did care for their eggs and hatchlings were rewarded with full stomachs, time in the water vent and saunas, and days off, positive reinforcement eventually winning many of the tundras over to continue their bloodlines. It was only years later when the population of tundras grew to a substantial size did things go wrong for Hayward, whispers among the dragons about riot and a Coup d'état reaching loyal gaoler ears. Conditions got worse for them in an attempt to weaken their bodys, minds and hopes, only fuelling the fire inside the angry tundras. And then one night it happened, the tundras striking in the night and releasing a foul beast encased in ice. Her name, Tizheruk. Tizheruk heard the Tundras boon, freedom in exchange freedom, and for Haywards head. Tizheruk was freed, her roar deafening and scaley, snake like body as large as two imperials. She rushed from her icey prison the middle of the spires, directly for the west spire where Hayward, his direct kin and his guards slept. Her 6 claws help her to climb the spire to shove her long face in through the windows to snatch Hayward into her jaws, leaving nothing but the head remaining. The guards attempts to strike back were meaningless, Gaolers being flung like rag dolls to their doom. By the time it had finished, Tizheruk had left almost no survivors of the Gaolers, dragging off Haywards brother south into the blizzards. Just as promised, she had shed as much of their blood in exchange for the gift of freedom the tundras had given her. The only Gaoler who hadn't ran off in fear of the beast and what would happen stood valiantly in front of the survivors, Haywards mate. Valleyrun quieted the rioting tundras with her booming call, If they wanted their fortress, their valley and oasis; they could have it. At the cost of their bloodline cursed to never leave until the last one stands. And with a roar and a bright light, her body slowed and fur hardened, the Gaoler turning to slink into the cave between the towers to rest. The clan was renamed after the dragon who started the rioting, Gelu. At first, the tundras didn't believe her warning not to leave, but chose to rest for a while before hunting or gathering, quickly wiping out the food rations left. When dragons began to go missing during their hunts or gathering, things became a lot more serious. It was true, they had to live off what the fortress and valley provided them and no further else face certain doom. When Gelu disappeared, what little was left of the starved dragons lost most of their hope. Only a few hatchlings were strong enough to face through the starvation, the clutch of one called Spero being the only ones keeping enough fat on them through the winter. As years passed, the only two dragons of Spero's clutch, and the only two young dragons carrying the bloodline were left. Prospect and Fathom, two boys who would soon be left on their own. The two last dragons of the tundras lost their mother and the rest of their clan one by one in the upcoming months after their 5th birthday, leaving them alone to graze the valleys. Prospect and Fathom knew the curse well, and they knew at one point they'd have to break and end it. No offerings to the statue of Valleyrun would lift the curse, only the blood of one of the brothers upon the snow. As another year passed, tension only grew, hunger only grew and fear only grew inside them. Fathom was first to strike on the day of their 6th birthday, a bloody battle ensuing between the two locking teeth, horns and claws. It eventually took to the sky, heading east and out of the Fortress valleys. One of them had to die, or both of them were destined for the blizzards to swallow them as Tizheruk had Hayward. As they reached the coast in their battle to the death, Prospect dived for the salts spears, long spikes made of ice and salt formed from the ocean hitting the cold and freezing into dangerous blades. With a flick of his wings, Prospect lifted himself back up into the air but Fathom wasn't as agile, spearing his skull on the ice and thrashing about for no more then a few seconds before the oceans ice begins to freeze onto his body, a hellish cold all the brother feeling until the spear in his head took him. For once in his life, Prospect could spread his wings. All he wanted to do though, was rest and sulk for the loss of his last kin. Prospect took on the help of some passing Gaolers to move what was left of of the shade creatures, finly ridding his life of most of his past. The Beginning

The Gelu Clan Fortress was not always a cozy place to live, in fact it wasn't always called the Gelu either.

By the time it had finished, Tizheruk had left almost no survivors of the Gaolers, dragging off Haywards brother south into the blizzards. Just as promised, she had shed as much of their blood in exchange for the gift of freedom the tundras had given her.
Pal_rai_something.jpg

The only Gaoler who hadn't ran off in fear of the beast and what would happen stood valiantly in front of the survivors, Haywards mate.
Valleyrun quieted the rioting tundras with her booming call,
If they wanted their fortress, their valley and oasis; they could have it.

Fathom_and_Prospect_Sfw.png

Prospect took on the help of some passing Gaolers to move what was left of of the shade creatures, finly ridding his life of most of his past.
His habit of giving the Valleyrun statue gifts of gemstones and food never died
