Tasked by Lightweaver to help bring the morning light, Dawnbringers rise early each morning to take flight and paint the sky in awe-inspiring colors. Their bodies have absorbed the ever-changing hue of the dawn, sporting feathered plumage in plentiful shades of soft blues and purples. Their wings are stained with the sun's light, and often their cheery magic can be seen glowing gently through their bellies.
Behavior
As light dragons, Dawnbringers are fascinated with history and are studious by nature. Many of them become historians, linguists, archeologists, geologists, and similar occupations. While these are typically relaxed, passive jobs, active Dawnbringers are also known to use their strong magic to become battle mages. Others still translate their skills in the sky onto paper, making talented artists.
Dawnbringers strive for excellence in everything they do, being fast learners or natural talents. Unfortunately, that means those who aren't too talented are often ostracized or looked down upon. These individuals sometimes quit being a Dawnbringer altogether, and Lightweaver's blessing fades until they're left with little functioning magic.
Tertiary Genes
These dragons are much like artists, each one having their own preferred style and methods. Where their magic is gathered most on a dragon's body tells a lot about their style. Some have their claws stained with glowing light, while others have it splotched throughout their bodies like a messy painter.
Capsule: Most powerful Dawnbringers, they cover huge swatches of the sky each morning, drawing on the large reservoir of magic stored in their bellies.
Runes: Dragons who are overly fond of finger-painting, as evidenced by the light magic stained on their claws. They like to draw the lines of sunbeams with their talons.
Opal: Like painting the clouds with little dots of sunlight.
Stained: Uh oh! These guys flew too close to the sun. Some of them got a little sun-burnt, while other seem to have absorbed the extra light, changing their feather colors. They hum with residual magic from the sun and often paint very gently and subtly, taking layers of magic to make a noticeable difference.
Underbelly: Descended from a Dawnbringer, dragons with colored underbellies no longer carry the magic to fulfill the task given to them by Lightweaver. All that's left is feathers mimicking the lost power. Null
Glimmer: Descended from a Dawnbringer, dragons with faintly shimmering underbellies no longer carry the magic to fulfill the task given to them by Lightweaver. While they still have very potent magic left over and usually become great mages, they can't participate in the morning activites.
