It is not welcoming, gentle, or kind, but it has an aura of mystery and wonder to it that the right kind of spirit is drawn to. One such spirit of nature took on the form of a nocturne dragon - she was young and beautiful, beguiling and enchanting. She sang and danced amidst the glowing mushrooms and crawling brambles. She wore a crown with branches of red coral. She had sisters, other nature nymphs, spirits of trees and rivers, and mountains. But one by one, her sisters swore themselves to Artemis; forever virgins. The new nocturne would make no such pledge - she wanted to find love, to know it. Another spirit was bewitched by her, a water spirit, a nix who took the form of a dragon as well, another nocturne came into being because of his love for the Nymph. He called her to the water but she would not come to him. He sang to her in an attempt to woo her, played her otherworldly music, he made her promises no mortal dragon could ever keep. He wanted her for his own. In time, she warmed to his advances, and in time she accepted his proposal. They were happy together. The pair were wed under the full moon's light, deep in the Tangled Wood, and in that moment, the two spirits were joined for eternity, one always having a sliver of the other. Eventually, however, the young females' amorous freedom got the better of her, and she roamed the woods more and more, looking for something outside herself that called to her. In time, the male grew despondent without the water from which he was born. Spring was called back to the river and Nymph followed her desires, the two halves of one spirit-heart were separated; but still their essences are intertwined. And so it came to pass that with each new clutch born from the nymph or the nix, the shards of each other spirit connected them still. A certain magic coursed through the veins of the progeny, who were half-dragon/half-spirit themselves. The progeny were tied to one another through a mystical bond. They came to be known as [b]the Nereids[/b], named after a family of water nymphs who could not be tamed. [*]Nereid dragons will have a generation number to show how distantly (or closely) related they are from the Founders. Both Spring and Nymph are considered Generation 0. Their children are Generation 1, their grandchildren are Generation 2, and so forth. [*]Please do not interbreed Nereids, regardless of whether they are far enough removed or not, because this causes issues with generational listing and muddies the genetic pool. * This is especially applicable for dragons from each line of the tree - I don't want one of Spring's progeny breeding with one of Nymph's down the line somewhere (but it will be forgiven if it happens by accident). [*]In order to qualify as a Nereid dragon, [color=#3F82A9]the non-Nereid parent of the hatchlings must be exalted, sold, traded away, gifted to another player, or otherwise leave your lair.[/color] The use of studs is acceptable for producing Nereid hatchlings, but no breeding between a Nereid and a stud should be repeated. Every nest should be unique! [*]Nereid dragons can be part of a regular breeding pair, but hatchlings produced by permanent breeding pairs are not eligible to be part of the Nereids family tree. Lorewise- the fickle nature of the spirits does not lend itself well to permanent pairings. [*]At current, the only restriction on colours in the primary should be a shade of green: acceptable range is from [color=#3F82A9][b]Spruce to Moss[/b][/color]. Regarding secondary + tertiary, there are no restrictions on colours. [*]The accepted primary + secondary genes are: [color=#3F82A9][b]Jupiter, Laced, Petals; Trail, Edged, Butterfly[/b][/color] [*]At current, the acceptable tertiary genes are: [color=#3F82A9][b]Capsule, Filigree, Firefly, Glimmer, Peacock, Runes[/b][/color] [*]There is no flight limitation. There is no breed limitation. There is no leveling requirement. [*]Lore is not required, but is completely encouraged [emoji=butterfly] [*]Once you have adopted a dragon from this thread, it is yours to do with what you wish. However, it is preferred that players adopt these dragons with the intent of breeding them, so that the family tree can continue to grow and prosper. [*]It is up to individual breeders if they sell their Nereid hatchlings or give them away for free. [*] It is up to other lineage creators if crosses are allowed with this lineage. Hatchlings must then meet the requirements of [b]both[/b] lineages. If one lineage demands its hatchlings are to be given away for free (ie NW, nightingales), then you cannot charge for them in this thread, they're to be free here also. While I've exalted and given away the previous progens, I've had the lore spinning circles in my head and decided to reboot using a pair of beautiful G1's i'm in the process of gening up - as seen in avatar form on the first post of this thread, and scries below. I was wondering if you'd be interested in a reboot of the lineage project, and if you'd want to jump over to a new pinglist?
