Yule is the brash skeptic of the three. Going to find Hazel was her idea, and she's adamant that nothing will happen. And! If something does, she's tough enough to protect her clanmates from harm. But NOTHING will happen, right?

Last to arrive but never last heard is Tagora, a musician and performer with a good heart and a wooden head. Taken in at a young age by the clan's nest-minder, Beval, Tagora knows well the power stories can have and has dedicated her life to telling them to passerby. She's very good at it! But don't expect her to understand everything she's saying, or the underlying symbolism of her performances.

She may be simple, but she's not useless. Tagora was apprenticed to Zetyr for a long time, so she could truly live the adventurous life she sings of, and she picked up a considerable bit of healing Wind magic from both him and Beval. In the RPG metaphor, she's the party's high-HP healbot, and while she's clumsy without choreography, you should see how graceful she is when someone needs tending to.

So there you have it: Three dramatically overqualified warriors visiting an urban legend! Yule's sure she doesn't exist, Ichor hopes she does, and Tagora hopes she doesn't but is pretty sure she does. What happens next???

"There ISN'T." Yule snapped, just as the low chuckle rang out from the underbrush, making all three girls jump.

Yule swallowed. "There... there isn't..." she mumbled, but the words nearly died in her throat, sounding flat even to her.

"Perhaps," Tagora started, "we should run."

Ichor went straight into the cave.

Zimri shook her covered head and returned her gaze to the path of beaten down foliage in front of them. The coatl's crest of feathers twitched with every sound, but she wasn't afraid. No, she had an almost morbid sense of curiosity towards this supposed ghost story she had heard floating around the camp. It had taken little conversation to get her blue spiral friend to come along - the little anarchist was always thrilled to play with potential danger, but their enormous partner hovering over head had taken a little more convincing. Nightingale, as if on cue, cleared her throat, clearly heard even with the considerable distance between her and the rest of the group. "This the right direction?" Zimri paused to look up at her. The Imperial's shadow blocked a large sum of stars from her view, but she knew that this dragon's size might come in handy in the event that this supposed monster were real. "It's what Dara told me," Zimri answered, raising her voice so it could be heard. Nightingale's expression remained uncertain, but she beat her wings and continued to glide in a wide circle above them. "I think," Pavati started after they had trekked for some time. "Hazel is just a crusty old tale made to scare hatchlings. Even if she was real, there's no way she's still around. She'd be gross and absolutely ancient. " "Don't be rude." Zimri retorted. There was something changing in the landscape around them, she noticed, something that made the air grow colder and the leaves wilt. "I think we're almost there." With a wave of her glinting wings, she signaled for Nightingale to join them on the ground once they reached a clearing. The Imperial landed with a careful (but still ground shaking) thump. And then... --- "Run! RUN!!!" Pavati shrieked, her body contorting to a near knot as she spun around bolted. Insects of all kinds swarmed from the undergrowth. Eerie lights flickered in the trees. Nightingale stood, frozen to the spot. "This was an awful idea," she mumbled. Her eyes stayed trained on the section of darkness where the face had disappeared. Her wings trembled. "This was an awful idea! Why'd I agree to it?!" "Nightingale!" Zimri's clipped voice finally reached the Imperial's ears, snapping her out the trance. The Coatl was latched onto her forearm. "There's too many of them, even for you! You have to fly us out of here, they shouldn't be able to catch up with you!" "R-right. Right!" Nightingale crouched, allowing Zimri to flutter up and take her place on the back of the larger dragon's neck. She whipped her head around, trying to find the shimmer of yellow and blue scales somewhere in the leaves. "Where did Pavati go?" "Doesn't matter! She's fast, I don't think they'll be able to catch her either! Now come on, go!" Nightingale lifted into the sky with a single flap and started back for the Behemoth, unaware of the grinning witch watching them disappear over the tree line.

Pharmakon convinced her that if she was looking for a real scare, then she would find it Hazel's Haunted Hollow. BabyCakes would never pass on an opportunity for a good fright, and the she was sure that the stories she would tell of her adventure would frighten hatchlings for generations. So when she entered the caves she was slightly disappointed with standard scares of bats, slime, and flickering glow-in-the-dark lights of the Cave Jewels. "It's gonna take more than some natural beasts to scare me," BabyCakes thought to herself as she put a protective wing around Pharmakon when all the lights in the cave went out. He joined the adventure to Hazel's Hollow only when he learned that a variety of psychedelic moss grew plentiful inside of the cave system. CHNO was so busy harvesting the moss that he didn't notice the serpent slithering around his ankles, so it came as a shock when he tripped and fell face first into a mess of cobwebs. Pharmakon and Babycakes helped him up just as the flickering lights in the cave went completely out. A low moan could be heard from deeper within the cavern. BabyCakes started to move towards it but Pharmakon and CHNO held her back. "This was a bad idea," Pharmakon whispered to the other two. "But it was YOUR idea," BabyCakes insisted as she pulled the two dragons along with her deeper into the dark....

perhaps this event is where the three of them found their love for spooky things? they all felt a draw towards scary things as a young dragons. all three of them were so impressed by Hazel's doings that they wanted to take the name Hazel, but the eldest sibling claimed it so the younger two chose similar sounding names.

"Look! I told you she was real!" Mithral was the reason the three dragons even went out to see Hazel in the first place; he was always looking for a scare. "Now you can't say anything about me lying, Flower!" Flower pouts at Mithral's excitement. "So, there are a couple of glows in the bushes. They're probably just some firebugs. And there's lots of frogs awake tonight." Flower was a stubborn girl who many thought of as... Well, still as stone. She didn't like to believe in things like ghosts without proof. She also loved to show off. "But be glad Kestrel was too busy to come. One small scratch on him, and everything here would be piles of flesh." "You're all heart, Flower," Yaremka chuckled. She didn't take these things as seriously as Mithral did, but she came along anyways because she wanted to spend time with him. "But I mean... This is kinda scary, you know? I mean, this Hazel lady... Didn't her familiars cripple old Vyrok last year?" "I told you, Yaremka," Flower sighed, "Hazel isn't real. This is just an abandoned la-" Flower stopped suddenly. "Hold on. Do you see that?" "See what?" Mithral was bouncing on his toes, eagerly waiting for something to happen. "Corpse Cleaner." Flower mumbled, before raising her voice. "RUN!" Mithral and Yaremka ran past the Corpse Cleaner, which chased them and gave Yaremka quit a nasty scratch. "The other way, idiots!" Flower hissed, but the other two were cornered by a group of Corpse Cleaners. She charged at the large centipedes and slashed two of them with her claws. "What are you two waiting for?! Help out!" Yaremka dashed around the room, trying to avoid the familiars as she tried to find an open target, but Mithral just stood there, staring at something behind Flower. "It's her!" He cried. "It's Madame Hazel!" Sure enough, as Flower turned around, there was the Bogsneak, who slinked towards the group with a wide grin on her face. "Leaving so soon?" She cackled. "What a shame. I've been preparing this hollow just for you three." "We-We're not scared," Flower retorted. "We just have better things to do than be beaten around by some oversized centipedes." "Fine, then," Hazel sat back with a glint in her eye. "Go, then. I'll have no quarrel with you if you do." With that, the three dragons left, with Yaremka holding Mithral back to stop him from asking the witch questions. None of the dragons noticed Hazel muttering one of many ancient curses at them, one that would force them to return to the hollow another year, when they are at the brink of forgetting her. But the dragons didn't notice. Why would they? They already got what they bargained for, maybe even more. But soon, they wouldn't have to bargain. It would already be here.

Oh, but can't you feel it?! The void, it's calling me- Calling all of us! It wants to eat our souls, so that we never ascend to the heavens, it wants to absorb us! It needs sustenance, so that it may expand and envelop this whole useless world! All that muck and grime, the ooze, it will fill every crevice of reality, and it will change the world into a paradise! All you have to do is live to see it!
And why aren't I scared? Because the void is the afterlife, and I am its Grim Reaper!
