They were all dressed up in ornamental wear and carrying celebratory lanterns, but on the way the ever-adventurous Reaper suggested they check out the mysterious hollow where the trickster Hazel was rumored to plan her devious pranks. Navast, the youngest of the three, objected to the detour. He'd known dragons who'd gotten injured quite badly from them. He had an uncle who had to take weeks off from his textile work to heal. Thankfully, he'd not heard of any fatalities, but that didn't make him less worried. Some of the pranks were - allegedly - brutal. There were tales of hatchlings who got so scared they'd hide in their den for days, traps and mazes so elaborate that dragons went missing, and hidden slime pits that made even spirals tire themselves to exhaustion trying to escape. Minerva knew all these stories too, but she didn't believe them. She was actually happy Reaper had suggested this. She was secretly drawn to the mysterious legend, but she didn't want to seem childlike for suggesting they chase a children's tale. But she regretted everything as soon as they heard Hazel's voice. And that's how they all ended up tied in a rope trap, high in the trees. "I told you guys", whined Navast, more frustrated than afraid. "Well, she doesn't seem to mean any real harm, at least." Although Minerva doubted if she was right. Reaper lashed his tail back and forth in anger. "Stupid stupid! This is my fault, I've always gotta go off the beaten path, don't I!" "Guys, guys, stop fighting." Hazel's voice rose up at them from below. "This is just a little way I like to relieve stress. This haunted day is the best therapy for me. Taking care of all these lost creatures year-round isn't easy you know." Navast yelled down at her, "So you think it's okay to kidnap us?" "It doesn't matter if I think it's okay. It matters if I enjoy it". Her haunting green eyes smiled up at them. "And I do." She turned her back and began to walk back into the dark wall of trees. "The only reason I tell my friends to minimize your injuries is to protect myself from anyone looking too closely into those 'rumors'". The three captives gulped. "A search party will find you in a few days max," they could hardly hear her now as the thick leaves swallowed her, "enjoy your time in my kingdom".

Karma had warned them that this was a bad idea.

Of course, they didn’t listen. Telling Kaliq Jally not to do something only inspired him to do it, and Tsunami found him too interesting a fellow colloquist to let him go on his own. Karma felt obliged to follow them, though she did not support the idea by any means.

They were going to Hazel’s Haunted Hollow to put an end to a great debate between Tsunami and Kaliq. Tsunami was convinced Hazel was a real dragon, and Kaliq was determined to prove her wrong. Karma didn’t care; she just wanted to go back home, and did not back down in her efforts to persuade them to do that very thing.

“It’s dangerous to be wandering about in the dead of night,” she pointed out.

“All the hatchlings do it,” Kaliq said. “Besides, what’s the worst that could happen?”

“Oh, I don’t know… death, disease, getting lost, kidnapped, or brutally murdered…”

“What, like your brother and sister?” Kaliq jested.

Karma went quiet. Their screams still haunted her…

Noticing the tears welling in the Tundra’s eyes, Tsunami rushed over to comfort her, sending a stern look to Kaliq, who shrugged. The Guardian wrapped her large wing around Karma, and spoke softly.

“It’s all right. They’re in a better place now.”

That didn’t make Karma feel any better, but she smiled for Tsunami’s sake.

“I’ll find whoever killed them and make them rue the day they hatched,” she said, her sharp voice cutting through the frigid night. A dark expression came over her, and she went silent.

A moment of discomfort passed between the threesome, before Tsunami began to babble again.

“I think Hazel’s real. King said that he saw her once, meditating by the pond!”

“King’s a wimp,” Kaliq scoffed. “I’ll prove Hazel’s made-up.”

“Oh, will you?” came a voice from beneath and above, left and right, everywhere and nowhere.

Kaliq jumped, looking about in fear. Karma was concerned as well, but neither of them were as mortified as Tsunami, who whimpered and cowered behind them.

“Who’s there?” Kaliq called out.

“The one you seek,” the voice replied.

The three dragons all screamed in unison as a Corpse Cleaner leapt up from the ground before them. They ran in the other direction, running head-first into a great Bogsneak in a witch’s hat.

“It is I,” she said. “You should not have come, little ones. It is here that you will meet your doom.”

They were surrounded by a wide variety of horrendous creatures, too ugly and crude to describe. Hazel began to laugh — a deep, terrible laugh. The three young dragons huddled together, prepared to say goodbye. Their eyes shut tight, they awaited their inevitable fate, hoping they would be remembered.

Hazel’s evil laugh morphed into a genuine one, and all the awful monsters surrounding them began to laugh as well. Soon, everyone was laughing but the perplexed victims of the trick, surprised they were still alive.

“You are too easy!” Hazel exclaimed. Except, it wasn’t Hazel; it was, the three dragons saw with horror, King, the heir to the throne of their tribe. He had been wearing an elaborately designed costume of a Bogsneak.

Lemon howled at the two dragons he was with. "Don't you two want to know if the story of Hazel is real or not? How could you not want to know that?" He asked them, practically bouncing from foot to foot as he begged them to come with him. "Come on, it'll be fun! Way more fun then trick or treating!" He told them, the bright blue dragon, Ocean, giving him a smile and a nod. "Oh really, you mean it Ocean?!" Lemon yowled happily, wings flapping in his joy to lift him off the ground a little. "Okay! Let's get going!" Bumblebee sighed, though when a dragon came out to be nose to nose with him he was shocked into silence "Oh I am very real." Hazel said. "Boo!" That was all it took. 'Boo' had the trio screaming and running off into the night back to their lairs to hide under the covers "Guess Hazel was real after all.." Lemon said, making them all laugh a little "Let's just go trick or treating now..no more myth hunting." "Fear, what gives?" She grumped. The red wildclaw shushed her. "Shhhh! Dont wake your sister!" "What do you want?" She hissed, casting a glance at her sister's slumbering back facing the den wall. "You can't have forgotten! We've been planning for almost a month!" Daffodil surged to her feet, rolling her pearl into her back foot. "Right! It's time!" The two young dragons crept out of the den Daffodil and Promise shared and into the large common area of the cave. A tiny pink dragon wrapped in a fluffy white robe shot over and landed on Fearless' back. "Are we ready to go yet?" "I think so," Daffodil muttered. "You sure Gallow doesn't want to come?" Fearless shook his head. "He said if I talked to him again he would have Plunder bite my head off." Rose's sniffed. "Humph. Charming as always. Anyway, can we go now?" "Yeah, yeah." The three of them padded over the rough stone floor and out into the still forest. The only noise was the distant call of a death seeker. Fearless pulled the book lashed to his side free and opened it to a folded over page. "Okay. So from what I read, we need to go to the old oak tree and then walk due west until we find the hollow." Roses snatched the book out of his claws and laid it open on his back. "Cool. Any idea how far the hollow is from the tree?" Daffodil grabbed the book away. "You only get to ask that question if you decide to walk or fly on your own." She stretched across the wildclaw's broad back. "Do you have any idea how many steps or wing strokes I have to do to match even one of yours? Heck no, not walking or flying." "Ladies," Fearless interrupted. "We're here." The three had come out into a clearing nearly devoid of all life. No grass grew on the damp soil, not even a single solitary mushroom made its home there. The spindly oak tree, bare if leaves, was the only growing thing. "I've never been out this far," Roses whispered. Daffodil fumbled in the bag at her side and then pulled out the compass she had been given for her fourteenth birthday. Fearless crowded in at her shoulder with the pink fae teetering precariously atop his head, both striving to watch the needle. "Right, so we head north in order to find the hollow." Daffodil dropped the compass back into her bag and snapped it shut. "Shall we?" Fearless took up the lead as they left the clearing behind and pushed back into the thick forest. He grimaced as his foot sunk into something wet that squished. "When was the last time it rained?" He asked. "Three days ago," Roses answered. "Why?" "It shouldn't still be all wet out here, then," he rationalized. "Stop being a baby and come on. The sun doesn't get down here much; the leaves are too thick. It'll be soggy for a while. What, you don't like mud?" "Shut up," he seethed. He took a deep breath and stepped out into the mud, following Daffodil. The lithe pearlcatcher had stuffed her pearl into her bag to keep it from getting muddy. The group froze when a shriek split the night, followed by the sound of rustling feathers and a dull scraping somewhere to the left. "Wh-what was that?" Daffodil's voice shook. "Probably just a bird," Roses responded, seeming less than sure herself. But the scraping-sucking noise, like dry scales on wet, dead leaves, continued to come closer. And closer. Daffodil pressed closer to Fearless. Not a second later, the sound stopped. Fearless froze. "I think it's on me." He felt something weak around his ankle then, something flexible and made of rough scales. With a massive shriek he pulled away from Daffodil and took off running. "Fear, stop!!" Roses clung to his manes with her claws, but before she could even get a decent grip the wildclaw dropped out from underneath her, and instinctively she flared her wings to prevent from falling with him. The wildclaw tumbled in a shower of dislodged fungi, dirt, and dead leaves to the bottom of the slope. "Fear!" Roses swooped down to land beside him. "Fear, are you okay?" He stood up, spat out a mouthful of dirt, and then shook even more of it from his feathers. "Peachy." He stretched his back. "Fear!! Ro! Where are you!?" "Down here!" Fearless called back to Daffodil. After a moment her head appeared at the top of the ridge. "Well, I think we found the hollow," Daffodil called down. "Hang on, I'll be right down." "You sure you're not hurt?" Roses fretted. "Just bruises," he assured her. "I got my wings pulled in, I'm fine." "Lucky for you," Daffodil snipped as she landed beside them. "You could have broken both wings in a fall like that." "Thanks, mom, for the concern," Fearless snarked back. "I know how to roll, I'm not stupid." "I think that might still be up for debate, little one." Hearts pounding, the group whipped around. "Lady Hazel?" Roses whispered. "The one and only," the bogsneak replied with a smirk. "So what sends you tumbling down the hill to my feet?" Daffodil gathered herself up shakily. "Um, well ma'am, the thing is that we heard you could do things. Impossible things." Lady Hazel grinned. "That depends on your definition of impossible." "The reason we came to find you, um, so, we have this friend..." Daffodil trailed off, but Roses picked up the story. "Her name is Crusander, and we think he's in trouble." Hazel's eyes narrowed. "What sort of trouble?" "Crusander agreed to help with a project that these kind of shady people were working on, and we haven't heard from her in a while," Fearless said. "Uh-we think she might have gotten kidnapped." The little wildclaw took a deep breath. "I'm just worried that my mom is going to go to try and rescue her-and she won't come back." Hazel laughed. "You sell your mother short, little one. She has survived far worse than a jaunt across the countryside." She paused. "However, if I were to help locate this friend of yours, what would you give me in return?" The three young dragons started blankly at her. "Oh, come on, nothing is free, little ones. What would you give me?" "Um-" squeaked Roses "-our eternal gratitude?" Hazel stretched a claw out towards Fearless. "Tell me, does your friend Crusander live up to her name as much as you do? Crusader, a self righteous warrior of some faith." Fearless took a step back, baring his teeth. "I see. Why do you even want her back, then? She sounds like-what is it the kids say-a real piece of work. Maybe some time away will do the lot of you good. From what I have seen she does nothing but cause trouble and bring pain on the rest of you." "Liar!" Fearless lunged at Hazel with his fangs bared. A fetid gust of wind smacked him back to the ground before he could reach her, and knocked Roses back into the dirt of the slope. "You come into my home and attack me?" Hazel snarled. "How rude. Did no one ever teach you manners, or do I need to step up to compensate for poor parenting yet again?" Fearless growled. "Don't you dare insult my-" An earthshaking roar interrupted him, and it was quickly followed by three dragons landing in the hollow between the children and Hazel. "Fearless!" Youngblood pressed herself to her son's side and ushered him behind Plunder. The massive imperial was showing all of his teeth and the threat of eliminate swirled around his front legs. "Mom, I'm fine," Fearless muttered, despite his shaking and pressing against her side. "You've got more bruises than a month old apple," Volatile, the clan battle medic, remarked. The wiry skydancer turned his glowing plague eyes to Hazel. "Did she do this?" "Ah, Plunder. It's been a long time," Lady Hazel said pleasantly. "Not nearly long enough," Plunder snarled. "We've given you several options-move on, join us, or at least stop stealing food from our lair! There is enough room and resources in the forest for us all, and if you wish it there is a safe, dry space for you in our lair, but you have continued to overstep. Stealing our food is one thing. Attacking our children is another." Hazel laughed creakily, and hauled herself to her feet. "You're strong, there is no doubt there. But you're no match for me, child." Youngblood pushed Fearless behind her and went to stand at Plunder's side. Volatile's already luminous eyes glittered. "We'll take that bet," he growled. Hazel turned away, grinning. "As fun as that sounds, children, I have a prior engagement." And then she was gone. "We just wanted to help Crusander," Roses said, tucking her head against her chest. Plunder sighed and nosed against her. "I know, little one." "You could have been killed, or worse," Youngblood snapped. "Dont ever scare me like that again." She turned to Roses. "And you, Heretic is a mess. I could barely convince her to stay at the lair." "It was stupid, but brave," Plunder rumbled. "Come on. Chastising can wait until morning." He glanced at Fearless and Daffodil. "Stupidty and bravery have gotten me this far. Don't let some old witch scare you into thinking that there is something wrong with wanting to help a friend."

"Aw, c'mon, don't be such a chicken!" taunted Evangeline. "Even hatchlings are smart enough to know that it's just a stupid ghost story!" Phantom narrowed his eyes. "Yes... that's what most foolish dragons say before they vanish, never to be seen again..." "Y-Yeah, I think Phantom's right, l-let's just go home," Dreamer said, quivering. "Hmhmhm..." Phantom chuckled. "I never said I wished to return home... In fact, I find this excursion quite exhilarating. Haven't you ever wondered what the fate is of those who have gotten lost?" Evangeline let out an over-the-top groan. "Phantom, could you quit it with the whole 'Ooh, I'm so cool and mysterious' act? It's embarrassing to listen to." "Whatever do you mean?" Phantom asked coyly. "...like talking to a brick wall, I swear..." muttered Evangeline. "Are you SURE Lady Hazel isn't real...?" Dreamer whined. “Yeah, and I’m gonna prove it! Stop being such a hatchling! That droopy old dragon ain’t nothing but a story!” Evangeline snapped. Suddenly, they heard an ominous voice from afar. Upon turning in the direction it came from, all they saw were two glowing green eyes fading into the umber with unsettling laughter surrounding them. "Oh geez! Oh geez! I knew this was a bad idea!!" Dreamer said, starting to panic. "Pffft! Please! This is just some sort of pathetic prank, o-obviously!" Evangeline quipped, struggling to keep her composure. Phantom, still attempting to sound cool and composed, said shakily"A-Ahahaha...S-so it begins..." Hissssss! "AAAAAaaahhh!!" the three dragons screamed in unison, after which they broke into a run to get away from whatever was making that bone-chilling sound. Much to their dismay, upon looking back to see if they were being chased, they saw the mangled figure of a monster chasing after them. "What is that that thing?!" Phantom screamed, his act starting to crumble. "I don't know! I don't care! JUST KEEP RUNNING!!" Evangeline yelled. Eventually, they reached a clearing in the forest. After confirming that the horrific creature had stopped following them, they stopped to catch their breath. "Haaahh....haaaah...why didn't you two just listen to me when I told you this was a mistake...?" Dreamer wearily wheezed. "'Cause I didn't think this would happen, okay?! Obviously, if I knew this place was crawling with...with... whatever the heck that thing was, then I wouldn't have come here!" sourly retorted Evangeline. "Heh...heh..." Phantom chuckled, still out of breath. "What's so funny?!" "Oh, I just find it amusing for how much you talked before we came here, you freaked out like a hatchling at the first sign of danger..." "Oh, yeah? Like you're one to talk Mr. Too-Cool-For-School! You screamed like a little girl when you heard that thing hiss at us!" "Yeah-well-that was just...uhh...a tactical diversion! Yes! I screamed so that it would scare the creature away!" "You expect me to buy that, dufus?!" "You're one to call me a dufus! It was your idea to come here anyway! It's your fault we're stuck in this mess!" "Can you two calm down, please?!" The two dragons both stopped and stared at Dreamer with wide-eyes. "Listen, I know you're both scared and stressed out, but fighting with each other isn't going to get us out of this situation any faster. Please, we need to work together here." "Yeah...Dreamer's right. Sorry, Eva." "Whatever, I guess..." "Eva..." Dreamer eyed Evangeline sternly. "I'm sorry, alright?" Evangeline muttered begrudgingly. "Alright! Now that we're on the same page, let's try to find a way out of here." Dreamer exclaimed, trying to cheer the other two up. "Oh, there's no need for that..." a silhouette spoke from the shadows. "W-who's there?!" Evangeline quivered. "Ahahahaha...why I'm 'that droopy old dragon who ain't nothing but a story!'" the voice said mockingly. "L-L-Lady Hazel?!" the three dragons exclaimed. The figure stepped out of the shadows. "Yes, it is me...that horrid witch who lives in the woods. The one whose name make hatchlings quiver upon hearing it..." "W-What're you going to do to us...?" Dreamer timidly squeaked. "Why, I'm taking you home, of course!" the old dragon responded. "Wait, what...? But I thought..." "...That I was going to catch you and boil you in a nice stew? Please, those stories are just a bunch of hogwash. I'm sure you've already noticed, but these woods are very dangerous for a bunch of kids like you." Lady Hazel produced a crystal from one of her pockets. "Use this. It will teleport you to the entrance of the forest." Evangeline snatched the crystal from her hand. "Hah! I was right! Those stories were nothing but a bunch of lies!" "No you're not! Weren't you saying earlier that Lady Hazel didn't even exist?" Phantom contested. "Ah, whatever! I was basically like eighty percent right!" Hazel sighed. "Would you quit your squabbling already and leave? There's no telling when another monster might try to attack you three." "Y-Yup! Got it! Let's go guys!" Dreamer hurriedly grabbed for the teleport crystal. "Thanks, Lady Hazel!" Phantom said. Upon activating the teleport crystal, the three dragons were engulfed in a bright light, and disappeared. "Sheesh...Is it such a crime to want to be left alone? Pesky ghost stories..." Lady Hazel said, exasperated. Hazel's entourage of familiars came out to confirm that the dragons had left. "Yes, yes, their finally gone. Good job scaring them straight. Here's hoping that it'll at least be a few weeks before another batch of foolish dragons come wandering in. I better make another crystal in preparation..." "Guys, seriously, I think we should turn back..." mumbled Dreamer.
"Aw, c'mon, don't be such a chicken!" taunted Evangeline. "Even hatchlings are smart enough to know that it's just a stupid ghost story!"
Phantom narrowed his eyes. "Yes... that's what most foolish dragons say before they vanish, never to be seen again..."
"Y-Yeah, I think Phantom's right, l-let's just go home," Dreamer said, quivering.
"Hmhmhm..." Phantom chuckled. "I never said I wished to return home... In fact, I find this excursion quite exhilarating. Haven't you ever wondered what the fate is of those who have gotten lost?"
Evangeline let out an over-the-top groan. "Phantom, could you quit it with the whole 'Ooh, I'm so cool and mysterious' act? It's embarrassing to listen to."
"Whatever do you mean?" Phantom asked coyly.
Phantom, still attempting to sound cool and composed, said shakily"A-Ahahaha...S-so it begins..."
Hissssss!

"What's so funny?!"
"Oh, I just find it amusing for how much you talked before we came here, you freaked out like a hatchling at the first sign of danger..."
"Oh, yeah? Like you're one to talk Mr. Too-Cool-For-School! You screamed like a little girl when you heard that thing hiss at us!"
"Yeah-well-that was just...uhh...a tactical diversion! Yes! I screamed so that it would scare the creature away!"
"You expect me to buy that, dufus?!"
"You're one to call me a dufus! It was your idea to come here anyway! It's your fault we're stuck in this mess!"

"Can you two calm down, please?!"

The two dragons both stopped and stared at Dreamer with wide-eyes.
"Listen, I know you're both scared and stressed out, but fighting with each other isn't going to get us out of this situation any faster. Please, we need to work together here."
"Yeah...Dreamer's right. Sorry, Eva."
"Whatever, I guess..."
"Eva..." Dreamer eyed Evangeline sternly.

The one whose name make hatchlings quiver upon hearing it..."
"W-What're you going to do to us...?" Dreamer timidly squeaked.
"Why, I'm taking you home, of course!" the old dragon responded.
"Wait, what...? But I thought..."
"...That I was going to catch you and boil you in a nice stew? Please, those stories are just a bunch of hogwash. I'm sure you've already noticed, but these woods are very dangerous for a bunch of kids like you."
Lady Hazel produced a crystal from one of her pockets.
"Use this. It will teleport you to the entrance of the forest."
Evangeline snatched the crystal from her hand.

------ Adamina sat in a sofa in the lobby of Asphodel Foundation, bored. She came by because the job she just finished took place in Viridian Labyrinth. Unfortunately, Asphodel Foundation was very empty that day, both Kaleyard and Qualia was out for work, even Victor was having a day off. The bogsneak mercenary clicked her tongue, browsing through the list of wanted criminals with her magic communicator, trying to find a new target to hunt. “Oh, hello miss Adamina! I didn’t see you there!” Said a cheery voice from behind. Adamina turned around, it was the ghastly figure of a skydancer in a lovely green dress, vice-president Etaoin Shrdlu. Next to her was the janitor, a half-rotten, partially taken over by plants, zombie mirror. The janitor was carrying a ridiculously big wooden box. She showed no hardship carrying it, Adamina assumed that either the box was lighter than it seems, or the janitor was actually very strong. Etaoin nodded at the box, “Blossom and I, we are going to deliver this to the Tangled Woods, would you like to come with us?” she asked politely. Normally, Adamina would not tag along with such activity without payment. Even if she had alliance with the foundation, they still need to pay her for her work. But days had been slow lately, she agreed in a whim. The bulky bogsneak in a leather long coat got up and joined the other two feeble-looking dragons. --- The trio sat quietly in a motor boat, rowing down the rivers of Gladeveins, crossed the border, and entered Tangled Woods. Adamina eyed the other two, Etaoin was humming some tones in the breeze, and Blossom was trying to fish some snacks with her tail and plants. They parked their boat in a public dock in Driftwood Drag, the rest of the journey had to be on foot. “It won’t be too far away,” assured Etaoin. Her ectoplasma body redianted a smooth light, illuminate this dark forest alongside with all these mushrooms. Adamina didn’t care about the length of travel, even if she needed to carry the luggage for them. Blossom walked surefoot with a huge box on her back, supported with her long broken wings. She let her thought flow as she walked with the others. Adamina didn’t want to sound like a jerk like her father, but she had doubt on Etaoin, specifically her power of leadership. She seemed like the type of person who would trust everyone in a heartbeat (or there lack of). Even an outsider like Adamina herself knew that Asphodel Foundation had a very shady side. Was Etaoin a legit vice-president of that place, or was she just a puppet sitting on that position? They walked past a small village, Adamina recognized this place, she read about it. Then something rang the siren in her head. There were rumors about an evil witch living in the tunnels nearby, dragons dared to walk in escaped in fear, and injuries, one of them even had a broken wing. They were heading straight to the place. “Etaoin, isn’t this place a witch’s...” Adamina leaned down, asked quietly. Etaoin nodded, “Yes, but the residents here are innocent, please don’t hurt them Adamina. We will be fine.” The mercenary nodded to herself, fall back to her thoughts while the Etaoin chatting with Blossom. So they were onto a witch hunt, which they do sometimes with highly illegal necromancers. Etaoin was a strong witch herself, alongside with her, they could take down any kind of enemy. Adamina raised her head, only to found Etaoin gone, only the janitor and her box was still here. “Wha- WHERE IS ETAOIN?!” she shouted at the mirror. Blossom shrugged, “I donno, maybe she went inside!” She pointed at the caves. “Oh, pillar shards,” Adamina cussed, she just looked away for a minute and Etaoin was gone? She paced back and forth, flicked her tongue. Etaoin must be ambushed by the witch inside, of course, she was way too trusting! “There is no other choice, we have to go in,” she announced. Blossom waved her tail, “Oh it’s gonna be fun!” Adamina entered the caves on her all fours to reduce her footsteps, but sound of Blossom’s branches snapping and the box’s rustling didn’t make them more quieter. She sighed, back on walking with her hind legs again. The cave system was pretty damp, with moss and glowing mushrooms growing everywhere. Judging form the temperature inside, there were creatures living in here. Cold air drifted through, indicating the tunnels did lead to somewhere, possibly where the witch was. The self-trained mercenary’s eyes swept through the cave, something just ran by. She approached, the creature was nowhere to be found, the trail of giant insectoid footprints disappeared halfway. A huge thud came from her left, she quickly turned around, it was Blossom tackling a cave jewel. Instead of fighting as Adamina would expect, she was just hugging the glowing creature. “Stop playing with it!” she scolded. The mirror stopped for a moment, the slimy critter slipped out of her grip and disappeared in the depths of the caves. “Adam, you are too tense,” Blossom said with a happy tone, “you supposed to have fun!” Adamina grabbed the simple-minded dragon by her shoulders, “NO WE DON’T!” she snapped, “Etaoin is gone! Abducted! We have to find her quick!” She shook the mirror, the box on her back fell off, its contents spilled all over the place. Charred bones. The bogsneak gasped, she knew these weren’t dragon bones, but why would Etaoin send these things in here? Could it be Asphodel Foundation doing some shady business with the witch here? It must be, Adamina thought. Something sneaked on Adamina, coiled itself on her, its pointy feet stings her. Finally something showed hostility. She rammed herself on the cave wall, impact hurted the corpse cleaner surrounded her. It let go of Adamina, pieces of its carapace cracked. Adamina stepped on its back, not letting it to escape, “Where is your master?” she demanded. Sharp, creepy crackling filled the tunnel. In the faint bioluminescence of cyan and yellow came two green glowing dots. Another bogsneak appeared, her dark skin and outfit blended in the dim place, only her eyes and bone pattern were more visible. “Looking for meee?” the witch screeched. Adamina entered her battle stance, ignored the excitingly waving mirror. Adamina leaped toward the witch, but tripped on something and fell on the ground. She glanced at her left foot, a vine that was clearly out of place grabbed her ankle. She pulled her foot free with a tug. “Oh my, you seemed tense,” the witch taunted, “how about some chill!” She tossed some kind of power on Adamina’s face, the mercenary held her breath, avoided inhaling most of it. Her limbs went limp a little, not enough to slow her down much. Angered, Adamina knocked a stalactite down, it hitted the witch on her head, made her kneeled on the ground. She body slammed the witch, held her down with her weight. Adamina raised her arm, light magic concentrated on it, no time for last words. Blossom tried to stop her, but Adamina knocked her away with another hand. “STOP!” A cold but steady hand grabbed Adamina by her collar, dragged her off the witch. It was Etaoin, looking at her like a parent disciplining her child. “Adamina Frankenstein, I told you not to harm the residents here!” the good ghost witch scolded Adamina. “We thought you have been taken away! Where the hell have you been?” she protested. “I did told you we are here to delivery, and that we will be fine,” Etaoin said with a stern voice. “And it’s not ‘we’, only you think that Eta was gone!” Blossom added. “I just went inside first to check on the fungi growth and critters, which are the bones for, they are food for them,” Etaoin nodded at the corpse cleaner, which was eating a piece of bone like cookie. The skydancer put a gentle hand on Adamina’s shoulder, “I know you were worry, but you need to learn how to trust others,” she said with a calming voice. Etaoin helped the other witch to get up, “I apologize for my chaperone’s beheaver, miss Hazel, please forgive us,” she bowed. “Yeah, sorry about that,” Adamina said with shifty eyes. “Oh, it’s okay, things like this happens a lot. Running a spooky business is never easy,” Hazel straighten her back. Adamina wanted to disappear in the thin air now. They arrived at Hazel’s place, a pond in the opening of the cave system. “As apology, how about buy some of my merchandise and homemade medicines? Most of my customers run away before reaching it.” “That sounds lovely,” said Etaoin.
