Courtiers dance in time with the band, the air humming with energy that is [b]infectious[/b], his right foot tapping along with the beat as he twirls his mustache, deep in thought. The grandfather clock down the hall strikes nine. As the gongs echo throughout the estate, the music and conversation stops as everyone holds their breath. Unsure. Anxious. Prince Prospero took this opportunity to stand in front of the crowd to announce his plan... a costume competition. "Friends, thank you all for coming to this first annual masquerade! As the night wears on and your feet grow weary, I encourage you to wander down the hall to the room with the scarlet window panes to participate in a competition of sartorial whimsy." He chuckles to himself. "There are three themes, and your task is to best represent as many or as few of these themes as you wish for the chance at fantabulous prizes!" He claps his hands to signal the band, who immediately restarts the waltz and the courtiers resumed their dancing. A few masqueraders, Prospero noticed, wandered out of the violet room and down the hall. [b]Good.[/b]
