yes, this was inspired by Dalaran, the city of magic on Azeroth
  • Despite literally being on an island floating in mid-air, uninitiated dragons cannot fly into the lair, they must go though a heavily guarded entrance near the observatory and take a portal to the island
  • This clan houses about 800 permanent members, and has many hundreds more who come and go. The clan's population peaked around 1200 individuals
  • Magic is obviously a HUGE thing in the Clan of the Starfall Lights. Every baby born in it is trained from an early age, and those who come later are often sucked into the magic-laden culture, no matter their native element

The exact origins of Valimaeria is still a mystery to all but time itself, her egg having been abandoned deep in the Starfall Isles. It was by luck, or perhaps prophecy, that the lone egg was discovered and cared for by a kindly Skydancer pair. The egg hatched on a sunny, midsummer day - a small, purple Guardian rolling from the shattered shell. Her eyes opened, and she was given the name 'Valimaeria' by those who cared for her.

Valimaeria's early life was a hatchling's typical upbringing. Ironically, her Search ended where it began, in the Starfall Isles she once called home. It was a journey through the Starwood Strand when Valimaeria came across a wounded and dying Fae, an orphan named Tulu.

Time and time again her parents and clan leader tried to teach the young Pearlcatcher the art of prophecies and fortune-telling, but she never truly grasped the complex art. Unable to become one with her clan as an oracle, Ariella resigned to a quiet life among the waves. She spent her days wandering the Sea, following schools of fish for days and dodging unfriendly Maren. While Ariella would return to her home clan on occasion, she spent most of her nights curled up with her pearl, alone. She grew quite fascinated by the small pearls made by oysters, marveling at how such a simplistic creature was capable of making and maintaining such a complex object. She was distraught upon learning the truth behind these pearls, being made by the oysters' imperfections, unlike the holy pearl of a Pearlcatcher. Her odd fascination with pearls came to light once again, when she met the hyperactive Bubble Nymph, Pixie. It had been an odd encounter, Ariella having literally swam up to Pixie, thinking that she was prey. It was only when the nymph yelled angry obscenities at Ariella that the young Pearlcatcher realized her mistake. Pixie had a pearl of her own, made from seaglass and shined water ferns. The tiny nymph took an instant liking to the dragon, and even offered to help the young Ariella to learn the arts of divination. Ariella, born among the salty waves in the Sea of a Thousand Currents, was not a natural-born oracle like her brethren.
