I've felt bad seeing my nests sitting empty since then, so I decided to do a breeding challenge and settled on the Legacy of War challenge. To make the challenge more engaging for myself (and practice some FR writing), with breeding cooldowns and what-not, I'll be undertaking this lore thread to accompany the challenge. [img]https://i.imgur.com/pUGLfcB.png[/img][color=#5A1605][size=4][u]Challenge Rules:[/u][/size][/color] 1. Begin with your Founder - a triple-Basic dragon of a Plentiful breed (Fae, Guardian, Mirror, or Tundra). 2. Buy the founder a mate. The only rule here is that they must be breedable with the founder and cost 10kt (or its equivalent in gems) or less! 3. When they're both RTB, breed them. Only their first nest for any given breeding counts for this challenge. 4. Once the hatchlings are adults, they will be forced to battle in order to determine who carries on the legacy. Send them into the Training Fields and battle until all but one of the contenders have "fainted." The survivor is designated the Heir. 5. Once your heir has been selected, buy them a mate. This mate must be worth 10kt times the current generation number or less off the Auction House (i.e. Gen 2 = 20kt, Gen 3 = 30kt, etc.). 6. Continue until the tenth generation's nest has hatched. The final survivor will be the winning dragon! [img]https://i.imgur.com/pUGLfcB.png[/img][color=#5A1605][size=4][u]Personal Rules:[/u][/size][/color] ~ I will be using the [b]Try Weggain[/b] optional rule: If a Legacy of War pair gives you a one-egg nest on their first breeding, then instead of declaring the sole hatchling your heir by default, you get to have a second nest between the parents. The single dragon hatched from the one-egg nest will be forced to battle with the sibling(s) that come from the second breeding of their parents. ~ Dragons who fall in battle and do not become the Heir will be put up for sale. If not sold within a few days, then they will be exalted. ~ The goal is [b]an Imperial or Wildclaw with at least one gem gene and respectable colors[/b]. May RNG be in my favor! A scroll lay unfurled under one claw, the sea breeze tugging at its torn edges. Lightweaver closed her eyes, silently reciting the scroll’s ancient text: [center][i]Peace through blood Child of the gods By strife chosen With honor fallen Bring forth the light Make all worlds right[/i][/center] The Arcanist had traveled across Sornieth to her Beacon to tell Lightweaver himself that the stars would be aligned in an auspicious manner as the new year began. His scholars had consulted with the best of Sunbeam Ruins and discovered this prophecy in a cache of recently discovered texts written in an ancient language that only few dragons besides the deities could understand. [i]Peace through blood. Always blood[/i], Lightweaver thought to herself. She opened her eyes to see the clear sky colored pink and orange and blue, and there twinkling in an almost perfect line above the sun were nine stars. They winked faintly at the Lightweaver before the sun lifted itself above the horizon and washed them away. [center][img]https://i.imgur.com/OStro4w.png[/img][/center] [color=#5A1605][b][size=4]Far[/size] below the[/b] Beacon, hidden in[/color] the cliffs of Sornieth’s eastern seaboard, a cave of prismatic crystals was suddenly filled with a light as bright as the sun and stars. Clusters of crystals seemed to sing as mysterious holes flashed open in their midst to show glimpses of forests and galaxies and mountains and oceans and beyond. Their song crescendoed as the light coalesced into a small shape in the center of the cave. And then silence. For a moment, darkness. The crystals glowed softly, just enough to illuminate the Guardian hatchling unfurling his form and opening his eyes for the first time. The Fae had deemed the Imperial boy an ordinary and healthy dragon, but she had remained silent for several moments for this one, a Spiral girl. The nest had hatched on the dawn of the new year, and as this was an age of superstition and raw magic, the new parents had decided to take their children to the seer for a reading. The Fae’s crest quivered and her eyes snapped open, staring at some far-off place.
