Maybe their parents abandoned the egg, unable to care for them when it was laid, or maybe they were chased away by their old clan.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]Maybe they felt like they never belonged.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]Everyone has a story, whether it’s as simple as becoming restless and wanting to spread their wings, find a new home, or perhaps they witnessed the murder of their entire family.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]Maybe it was just that their ‘home’ was never really a home.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]Many a year ago, a single dragon awoke in the middle of what seemed to be nowhere, a place she later found to be called the Starfall Isles. She awoke with no memory of where she came from, or why she was there. She awoke with a single [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=6901839]Mirror[/url] the color of blood looking out into the distance who turned to look at her as she stirred. The first things her eyes met were the soft expression the Mirror wore and the gentle smile painted upon his maw. “Roershak,” he began, blinking. “I’m not too sure who gave me it, but it’s the only thing I remember,” he said. Not long afterward, a small bird with glistening feathers landed on the Mirror’s head, and introduced himself as Viatrix.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]The Guardian stared at the two with a confused gaze, and after a moment, she opened her maw.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]“Calemvir. My name is Calemvir.”
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]Together, the two amnesiacs wandered the Isles, wondering why they had been chosen to wander the lands as they were. When Calemvir met the eyes of other wandering dragons, eyes full of sorrow or despair, eyes that could belong only to a dragon who knew nothing but solitude, she realized what it was that they were there for.

[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]Settling in a lair at the Crystalspine Reaches, Calemvir and Roershak set out to find any dragons who were lost, wandering, dragons who had no place to call home. With a smile on their face, they would offer them a place to rest, see them off after they recovered, or welcome them home with open wings. She knew that this was where her heart would find its place, what had been calling her all this time, and after a small meeting with the clan, they began to prepare for their move towards the Southern Icefields.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]But not everybody felt the desire to relocate. Upon announcing that they were to leave, Roershak approached the female Guardian and looked at her with sad eyes. The Starfall Isles were his home, and he couldn’t bring himself to join. He didn’t want to hold the Guardian back, knowing how important their charges were, and told her to leave without him. She couldn’t refuse, and he wouldn’t let her. He knew well how much it pained her to stay at the Isles whilst knowing that there was something out there calling for her, and that she should stop ignoring that call. With a sad smile, Calemvir bid her lifelong friend farewell, and soon they were on their way, waving goodbye to all who chose to stay.

After many moves, they finally settled in the one place thought to be uninhabitable: The Fortress of Ends.

Standing above it, however, was a towering [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=6553698]Imperial[/url] hidden by the stark white flurries of snow that matched her scales perfectly. As she spread her wings to ward off the intruders, she noticed the small Guardian that stood unwavering, and in a single flap, took to the skies and dived straight before the dragon, stopping only inches from her. The others had scrambled away, but Calemvir hadn’t even blinked.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]“So it seems you’re the one…” she gazed into Calemvir’s bright pink eyes, “After so long, waiting…” she muttered, watching as the stern expression on Calemvir’s face softened into one of confusion.

[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]Walking past the pure white Imperial, one by one they entered, finding it spiraled downwards into the earth, getting warmer the further they went. Not long after, the white Imperial joined in their exploration and motioned for the Guardian to follow as she made her way to one of the many branches they had come across previously. Lighting a torch on fire, the Imperial turned the flame towards the wall, where a single word was etched.

[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]“This word means Mystical Friend; it’s the name of an ancient kingdom that once reigned here millenia ago, and only this remains,” she whispered, brushing a claw gently against the caved stone. “I descend from a lineage of Imperials set to protect this territory until the rightful ruler should appear, and the moment I set eyes on yours… I guess you could call it intuition,” she turned to the Guardian and smiled. “I am Verglas,” she said.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]“Calemvir,” the Guardian smiled. “But you flatter me, Verlgas,” the Imperial tilted her head. “I am no ruler… I am simply a friend.”

Recalling the word written on the cave wall and what it meant made it simple, and from there on out they would be Clan Istaeoria, the clan of the Mystical Friends. [color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]Clan Istaeoria is located at a huge cave system in the Fortress of Ends that was once home to a kingdom from millenia ago—now covered in hundreds of miles of ice. With two entrances, one at the highest peak of the Ends, and one by the coast, the lair is guarded by many an Ice Sculpture that the Icewarden had bestowed upon the clan, a [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=8120]water spirit[/url] who has been around for so long she has lost count, and an Imperial [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=36495194]large enough[/url] to see both entrances by simply turning his head.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]Within the cave system itself are many large tunnels that branch off into various segments. They end in large rooms useful for nests, places to rest, areas to store food and other materials, amongst a myriad of other uses. The most elegant sections of the cave, however, are the hot springs—uncovered by [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=9555607]Stylios[/url], the head architect, as she had been exploring hard-to-reach areas—the underground gardens—marvelous rooms with incredibly thick but entirely clear walls of ice that allow the sun to shine brightly down onto fertile ground—and the most mysterious of all—the Chamber of Istaeoria’s Crystal.

The first things her eyes met were the soft expression the Mirror wore and the gentle smile painted upon his maw. “Roershak,” he began, blinking. “I’m not too sure who gave me it, but it’s the only thing I remember,” he said. Not long afterward, a small bird with glistening feathers landed on the Mirror’s head, and introduced himself as Viatrix.

All she remembers is waking up one day in the Starfall Isles alongside [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=6901839]Roershak[/url], a Mirror dragon about her age, and Viatrix, a wandering Storm Seeker who became interested in the amnesiac. She adored the area—a place full of dreams and chasing after knowledge—and she quickly befriended the two who provided her company. And although it was such a beautiful place, a place of wonderment and joy, for some reason she just never felt at home.[/size][/font][/columns]
[font=timesnewroman][size=4][color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]It wasn’t long before this two-dragon ‘clan’ became larger as she accepted many wandering hatchlings and dragons into her care. With each exchange of glances, all she provided was a smile, never once asking about their past, instead taking them under her wing if they needed a place to call home. Amongst the original newcomers were a curious Skydancer named [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=7509428]Marbeline[/url] who wanted to expand his knowledge on magic, and a beautiful Coatl named [url=http://flightrising.com/main.php?dragon=7073487]Irineiya[/url]. Irineiya was young and naïve, but something about him attracted the young Guardian, and something about [i]her[/i] attracted [i]him[/i]. They would exchange quick glances before wandering off, whispered secret words to the other, and everybody in the then-tiny clan knew that the two had fallen in love. It wasn’t surprising when the two had laid a nest of three eggs. What [i]did[/i] come as a surprise, however, was that only two ever hatched. One wandered off to search for another clan as soon as she was able, and the other remained. She was but a small, blue Guardian whom Calmevir named Sol the moment she laid eyes on her. Sol, the sun of her life.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]The death of the third, however, caused Irineiya to fall silent. Oh how Sol made him happy even after the other left right away, but things were never the same. Day after day he became more and more quiet, until finally he stopped speaking all together. No amount of coaxing from his mate could convince him to speak, and one night he simply vanished, never to be heard from again. The morning of his disappearance, Calemvir stared at the shallow imprint of where he once lay. She could feel the tears well up in her eyes, but before a single drop could fall…

[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]Immediately, the Guardian turned to look at her tiny daughter and she smiled. Now was not the time to mourn… What mattered was her growing clan and beloved daughter. Despite the brave face she tried to wear, however, the now-grown Marbeline would sit with her during her moments of silence, speaking in a gentle voice that finally allowed those tears to fall down her cheeks. When she needed to wear that mask, he would eagerly accompany the dragon on whatever task she needed to achieve, or looked after the mischievous Sol as she grew older and subsequently larger. He never once left the mother's and daughter's side through this time, beginning what would be a life-long friendship the three would share.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]Still, the feeling she had when she first awoke returned. With her ever-growing clan, her beautiful daughter, and a loyal friend by her side, Calemvir simply could help but deny any feelings of satisfaction. Something within her was shouting at her to go, to go somewhere, [i]anywhere[/i]. Leaving the clan to Roershak, kissing her daughter goodbye, and waving farewell to Marbeline, she took off…
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]She followed her instincts, allowing them to guide her across the Starfall Isles to the plagued Wasteland. She wandered the deserts of the home of all dragons, indulged in the fruits of the Viridian Labyrinth. She got lost amidst the glowing wonders of the Tangled Woods, and swam amongst the creatures in a sea of a Thousand Currents. She explored the sunlit Ruins and danced around lightning through the never-ending Expanse. She admired the drifting ashes of the Wastes, and soared across the powerful winds of a Plateau. She wandered across these otherworldly lands until a cold breeze caught her attention. Across the sea… Across the sea she saw white, and without even giving it a second thought she spread her wings took to the skies. She soared across the ocean, through clouds that slowly became colder with every passing moment, until she finally saw land.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]Slowing her glide, she allowed her claws to meet the ground beneath her. It was… White. Cold and white but beyond she could see patches of grass poking through this snow, and as she gazed ahead to the towering mountains far ahead, she knew.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]Home, her [i]real[/i] home had been so much closer than she ever would have thought.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]And immediately she returned, a light shining brightly within her eyes as she told tales of the Southern Icefields, as she spread news of their beauty and majesty. They were certainly the most sublime things she had ever seen, and asked her clan if they would return to the fields with her should they receive the Icewarden's blessing.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]Many agreed to accompany her, but Roershak and a few others, having known only the Isles, declined and said they would remain to serve the Arcanist. Immediately upon hearing this news, Calemvir looked at her lifelong friend, all light drained from her eyes. Roershak, the only one she had any ties with to her past, the first with whom all her memories began, to leave him behind? She wanted to say no, that she would just stay behind with her close friend and companion, but he raised a claw and silenced the Guardian immediately.
[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]“A Guardian’s charge is their life, and your heart never belonged here, Calemvir,” the Mirror said, looking her straight in the eyes. “I will not allow you to give up your happiness for me.”

They moved towards the Snowsquall Tundra, fought through the Cloudscape Crags, and finally arrived at their final destination, a place nobody ever figured could provide a decent home—a cave system located in The Fortress of Ends. The weather proved brutal and inhospitable for some, however, and they chose to move out, but those who chose to remain made themselves comfortable within the many tunnels of the cave. With everybody teaming up to aid one another, they were able to tidy up the frozen caverns into hospitable areas to live comfortably, store enough food and water to spare for any passersby, to overall have a decent life.

Alongside Sol, her daughter and Baron of the clan, and Marbeline, the Chemist, the three have formed The Trinity, a trio who serves as the main protectors of their clan. After discovering the name of the region this place once was thanks to Verglas, the snow-colored Imperial, this home came to be known as Clan Istaeoria.

xxxxxThe Southern Icefields weren't originally her homeplace. All she remembers is waking up one day in the Starfall Isles alongside Roershak, a Mirror dragon about her age, and Viatrix, a wandering Storm Seeker who became interested in the amnesiac. She adored the area—a place full of dreams and chasing after knowledge—and she quickly befriended the two who provided her company. And although it was such a beautiful place, a place of wonderment and joy, for some reason she just never felt at home.
xxxxxIt wasn’t long before this two-dragon ‘clan’ became larger as she accepted many wandering hatchlings and dragons into her care. With each exchange of glances, all she provided was a smile, never once asking about their past, instead taking them under her wing if they needed a place to call home. Amongst the original newcomers were a curious Skydancer named Marbeline who wanted to expand his knowledge on magic, and a beautiful Coatl named Irineiya. Irineiya was young and naïve, but something about him attracted the young Guardian, and something about her attracted him. They would exchange quick glances before wandering off, whispered secret words to the other, and everybody in the then-tiny clan knew that the two had fallen in love. It wasn’t surprising when the two had laid a nest of three eggs. What did come as a surprise, however, was that only two ever hatched. One wandered off to search for another clan as soon as she was able, and the other remained. She was but a small, blue Guardian whom Calmevir named Sol the moment she laid eyes on her. Sol, the sun of her life.
xxxxxThe death of the third, however, caused Irineiya to fall silent. Oh how Sol made him happy even after the other left right away, but things were never the same. Day after day he became more and more quiet, until finally he stopped speaking all together. No amount of coaxing from his mate could convince him to speak, and one night he simply vanished, never to be heard from again. The morning of his disappearance, Calemvir stared at the shallow imprint of where he once lay. She could feel the tears well up in her eyes, but before a single drop could fall…

xxxxxImmediately, the Guardian turned to look at her tiny daughter and she smiled. Now was not the time to mourn… What mattered was her growing clan and beloved daughter. Despite the brave face she tried to wear, however, the now-grown Marbeline would sit with her during her moments of silence, speaking in a gentle voice that finally allowed those tears to fall down her cheeks. When she needed to wear that mask, he would eagerly accompany the dragon on whatever task she needed to achieve, or looked after the mischievous Sol as she grew older and subsequently larger. He never once left the mother's and daughter's side through this time, beginning what would be a life-long friendship the three would share.

With her ever-growing clan, her beautiful daughter, and a loyal friend by her side, Calemvir simply could help but deny any feelings of satisfaction. Something within her was shouting at her to go, to go somewhere, anywhere. Leaving the clan to Roershak, kissing her daughter goodbye, and waving farewell to Marbeline, she took off…
xxxxxShe followed her instincts, allowing them to guide her across the Starfall Isles to the plagued Wasteland. She wandered the deserts of the home of all dragons, indulged in the fruits of the Viridian Labyrinth. She got lost amidst the glowing wonders of the Tangled Woods, and swam amongst the creatures in a sea of a Thousand Currents. She explored the sunlit Ruins and danced around lightning through the never-ending Expanse. She admired the drifting ashes of the Wastes, and soared across the powerful winds of a Plateau. She wandered across these otherworldly lands until a cold breeze caught her attention. Across the sea… Across the sea she saw white, and without even giving it a second thought she spread her wings took to the skies. She soared across the ocean, through clouds that slowly became colder with every passing moment, until she finally saw land.
xxxxxSlowing her glide, she allowed her claws to meet the ground beneath her. It was… White. Cold and white but beyond she could see patches of grass poking through this snow, and as she gazed ahead to the towering mountains far ahead, she knew.

xxxxxMany agreed to accompany her, but Roershak and a few others, having known only the Isles, declined and said they would remain to serve the Arcanist. Immediately upon hearing this news, Calemvir looked at her lifelong friend, all light drained from her eyes. She wanted to say no, that she would just stay behind with her close friend and companion, but he raised a claw and silenced the Guardian immediately.

[color=transparent]xxxxx[/color]I already have a few lore bios started, but as they were all written a while ago, I'll be rewriting or editing them to make them fit the changes I've made to this lair.

More will make sense if you read the Clan Lore :3c Since those individual storylines are insanely long, I will only be writing a little blurb for each of them and the rest of it maybe here and now during NaNo itself. I have plans to either write out their actual general story later on in a different thread or who knows! Either way, it'll be written out some day.
