The sun hangs low in the sky, casting shadows against the walls of the plain wooden shacks sitting in the sands of the beach. A stone path lines the front length of the small buildings, foliage peppered in between, everything located just outside the entrance to the cave.
“Oh geez,” Salvia whines, looking up at the sky, “I didn’t realize how late it had gotten!”
She walks the two of you closer to the shacks, leading you up the stairs and onto a porch of a particular building.
“This is the only shack we have available,” Salvia says, turning the key, “And it doesn’t have any furniture right now,” she adds.
She opens the door wide for you to look in, and it is evident what she meant, looking at the current state of the interior.
The room is completely bare, and by the smell you can tell it is newly built with fresh, clean wood. A floating orb of light dimly lights the room, giving it a soft glow. The privacy of your own hut sounds appealing, but you are unsure if you have the means to furnish it.
“So, have you decided?” Salvia speaks up, pulling you out of your thoughts, twirling her set of keys in her fingers.
You nod, having decided on the building you two stand in.
“Really?” Salvia asks incredulously. “If you say so,” she pulls a key off of the ring, handing it to you, “It’s all yours.” She takes one more look over the room, before adding, “Oh, and let me get you a small bedroll, at least!”
She hurries off, swiftly returning with a soft bundle, helping you lay it out on the floor. She also sets a plate down with an arrangement of cooked foods, seemingly unsure of what you eat.
“Well,” she yawns, clearly exhausted from the day, “I better get going,” she scratches her colorful feathers, “Welcome again, really, and enjoy your new home,” she smiles at you, and then leaves.
After a few moments she opens the door again to peek in.
“Oh, and I’d recommend personally exploring our outer territory,” she adds, “Maybe you should go for a stroll tomorrow morning?”
You nod, pleased with the idea, and she leaves you alone again.
It is completely dark outside now, and you settle down in the minimal comfort of your small bed, quickly drifting off to sleep, dreaming of the day ahead.
