It was joined by a second leaf fluttering madly in its rush to catch up to the first, weaving in and out of the great tree and its many arms. The first leaf was graceful and peaceful, straightforward in its descent. Its edges were scalloped in lovely patterns, and no one could pick out a prettier shade of pale green. It landed among the flowers that cushion the forest floor, next to a stream that babbled contentedly to itself. The leaf stirred one last time in the breeze and finally settled down to wait. The second leaf twirled faster and faster as it descended past the tree, past the many branches and its fellow leaves, whose time has not yet come. As the first leaf landed, the second flew by, pulled southwest by a mischievous wind flavored with shade and dust. It was abruptly dropped in a small pool of water, where it too began to wait. As the day grew weary, small roots from the great tree worked their way to the surface and crept along to find the leaves that had fallen. The tip of each root began to glow with a faint pulsing light, illuminating the forest like thousands of minuscule blinking stars; a new galaxy emerging every evening among the flora and fauna. One tiny root found the first leaf and gently rested its light on the delicate stem. A second root found the second leaf and did the same. Each root found its leaf, and the forest quieted to near silence. All night these roots maintained their lights, still as stone while the world grew dark. With the morning sun, countless little balls of light suddenly burst, scattering dewdrops and fallen petals with their energy. The leaves and roots had disappeared, and dragons in colors as numerous as the flowers around them awoke and stretched their claws, sniffing and snorting and blinking in the golden rays of the sun. The wings and limbs of a pastel Guardian blossomed in a flurry of energy and light . Not far away, another Guardian was thrust into the world, green and earthy like the flora around him. Thus were planted the seeds of the Rosewood Clan of Mist Meadow.
