Over the years, more dragons from all kinds of backgrounds accumulated until they formed their own mismatched patchwork family. Each member couldn't be any more different from the next, but like the clan's name suggests, they all stick together and watch each other's backs. Together, Unity traverses the rolling waves, poking around for abandoned treasures and only approach land to stock up on supplies, sell their discoveries, or store their more valuable items. Hidden away in the southern coves of the Ashfall Waste lies the secret lair of Clan Unity. Its entrance is hidden around a corner of rock in the cliff-face and is only accessible by boat or ship. There, Unity stores it's treasures and hoards. Cetus:

Images of the fight flashed in his mind: the campfire, smoke, a crack of lightning illuminating the chaos around him for a fraction of a second before everything plunged back into near-darkness. The battle could have been considered a victory, but it didn't feel that way to him. The enemy warriors were all wiped out, but at the cost of nearly half of his team. He knelt beside the body of a young skydancer, cursing under his breath. She had been one of the newest recruits, barely old enough to fight. Cetus knew if things continued like this it wouldn't be long before they were all dead, but to oppose the mercenary leader meant challenging him for his position. He would never last long as the leader. It was clear that most of the remaining warriors were hardened veterans, like himself, but cruel and bloodthirsty. Growing up alone in the Scarred Wasteland meant learning how to fight, but he didn't derive any pleasure from ambushing unaware dragons in the middle of the night. This softness of his would be fatal if he were to ever become the leader. He wouldn't be respected for mercy. Grimacing, he looked away from the skydancer's broken body. How many years had it been since he was in her shoes? When did this mindlessness begin? The sound of approaching footsteps in the sand behind him made him turn.

"How much more of this can you handle, Cetus? You and I both know you're at the end of your rope..."

He relaxed at the sight of the concerned tundra in front of him. Wisteria and her clan of medics seemed to show up after every battle, no matter where it was. Sighing heavily, he sat down and allowed himself to finally rest. With the adrenaline wearing off he began to feel exhausted.

"Well?"

He met her gaze, but couldn't form any words. She seemed to understand, however, as her expression softened. It was written all over his face: he couldn't do this anymore. He wouldn't.

Monoceros:

Thunder struck loudly overhead, rousing Monoceros from a particularly gruesome vision. Breathing heavily, she loosened her shaking grip on her deep blue pearl. It was him again. His plague eyes flashing, fighting valiantly, overcoming foe after foe only to be mortally wounded. Again and again, she had seen the snapper fall, yet her visions persisted. Once the final echos of the dragon's cries left her ears, she slowly stood and took in her surroundings.

Her fellow pearlcatchers were hunched over in toil, nearing the end of another day's work. Living in the Carrion Canyon was no doubt difficult and dangerous. If the local wildlife didn't take your life, a raid from a neighboring clan might. For years her clan's only hope for survival had been hard labor, erecting lightning catchers in the sand for the most prominent local clans day after day, month after month. It didn't pay well at all, but as long as it ensured survival they would work until their last breath.

She sighed, placing her pearl in a cloth bag slung around her shoulder and made her way over to a group struggling to lift a heavy beam. She wanted nothing more than leave this awful place, but if she left she wouldn't survive the first night on her own. Smiling softly to herself, she thought briefly of the snapper from her visions. How nice it would be to be whisked away somewhere else, anywhere. Her smile faded as she braced herself under the beam and lifted with the others. The warrior in her dreams couldn't possibly come to save her. He was some kind of stress-induced hallucination. He couldn't be real. Could he?
