These are not frequently seen dragons, as they prefer deep, shadowy puddles even here in Cherry Grove! These are the Trench Dwellers. The Fae of this species are very quick swimmers that enjoy darting back and forth among the depths. The Spirals on the other hand seem to prefer the darkness and safety of the trenches themselves, never really leaving their tunnels unless it's for food, or the occasional play. Though they don't appear too often, there are Albino Trench Dwellers (Pthalo) which tend to be far more shy than their counterparts. They tend to be shunned by their nest mates and sometimes attacked by them, so don't feel alarmed if it takes the Albino species a little time to warm up to your clan! [b]Will have Ice eyes. Each hatchling seems to share a knack for gold hoarding and adorning themselves with gold jewelry [s]we do recommend you keep an eye on all precious gold in your clan for safety reasons[/s]. To match their flashy outsides, these dragons are quite the lively entertainers! Each one seems to enjoy showing off in some way; through dance or song or dramatic plays and games. The original Glass Fae and Porcelain Fae were created to be decorations, a beautiful representation of the Fae species. However with most Arcane creations, things obviously got a little wonky. Through some magic, either magic from the Arcanist himself, one of his more explosive experiments, or from the simple magic that radiates from Arcane territory, these pieces of artwork came to life. The Glass Faes are brittle, so you must be very delicate with them, or they can easily shatter! The Porcelain Faes, while must more sturdy than their Glass counterparts, should also be treated with care, although they tend to be far more adventurous. Every now and then you will see a rare treat indeed, a hybrid of both Glass and Porcelain. These dragons tend to have very strong magic, so we advise giving them a tutor very early on![/columns] [img]https://i.imgur.com/uKeDfJh.png[/img] There is a reason these hatchlings are called the "Sweet Rose" hatchlings. Each of these hatchlings seem to have a truly sweet personality. While it is obvious that each of these little ones definitely enjoy eating any and everything they can find that is sweet, they also usually have very kind and demure personalities. Even at a young age these are very kind and helpful dragons, always looking to help out others in the hatchery, or playing with other hatchlings that appear lonely. If you are looking for a social butterfly to perk up those in your clan, this is the hatchling you are looking for. Some say they are the lost souls of dragons who couldn’t find their way to the Arcanist and whom roam, lost forever in the depths of the Strand. Others will say that these are indeed living dragons, those who found a way to cross the veil between the realms of the living and the exhalted, and they have the power to travel between the realms as they choose. To all those who have encountered them, the Ghost Petals have been peaceful. They are not vengeful spirits looking to haunt the living, but merely spirits who have found peace and now know the secrets to this world, as surely the Arcanist has always wanted for his children. Although they do not behave in an aggressive way, it is always wise to treat the spirits with respect. For all the stories that are told about them, they are either not of this world, or they are far more knowledgeable than those who are still bound to the living world. These dragons are what most would call “shade-touched.” It is unknown how these dragons came to be touched by the Shade, though experts have suggested that it happens when the Shade infiltrates an Arcane egg during the Witching Hour, the hour when the magical energy of Arcane is at its peak. Luckily for the hatchlings, the Shade doesn’t seem to have a conscious influence over the hatchling. Dragons that were born with this unique mutation were thought to be rather charming. However this was quickly disproven. Bewitchers are not simply “more charming” than other dragons, they are using their own magic to subtly hypnotize other dragons into doing their bidding. For the most part this can be difficult to manage (and mildly amusing) in hatchlings, however as adults the dragons seem to exhibit more controlling and maleficent behaviors.[/columns] [img]https://i.imgur.com/zg6wg8C.png[/img] Fondly nicknamed the Blushing Pearls, these hatchlings seem to have scales that are made out of the same materials as their pearls. The color of their runes are the only thing that tell you that these are real, live dragons and not simply beautiful statues. These hatchlings tend to be very vain, very much like their parents. It is difficult to get clans to adopt these dragons, as most of the time the hatchlings are too busy admiring themselves in their pearls to be bothered with interacting with others. The hatchlings also have a fondness for pretty belongings, and even at such a young age will begin to hoard all sorts of pretty stones and flowers from all around Cherry Grove. Although, do beware, these little ones do tend to get rather jealous if another dragon has a pretty thing and refuses to share. Their love is what dragons dream of, and yet, if it were to be found out, neither one of them would escape alive. For Guinevere is the Queen of Arthur, a well loved and respected king, and Lancelot is the most trusted of Arthur's warriors. For them to love, means that Arthur's heart would be broken, and so would their clan. But every year, in the middle of summer, Guinevere takes her yearly journey to visit her previous clan, and she is always escorted by Lancelot. In this way, they can almost pretend they are a normal mated pair. Though if there are any eggs, they cannot be brought back to Arthur's clan. The risk would be too high, and so they are left in a grove full of pink trees and grass and a kind caretaker who promises that they will go to good homes...[/i] [img]https://i.imgur.com/kDnMFDG.png[/img] The hatchlings of this pair are always a delight to have in Cherry Grove. Their parents are paladins, strong warriors but spiritual at heart. This gives their hatchlings a strong demeanor but a kind and wise personality. If there was to ever be such a thing as a "holy" dragon, these would be them. Each hatchling seems to glow with a happy and pure light, something that is untaintable by darkness. Both Galahad and Alaina have their own holy light about them, which radiates comfort and calm wherever they go. They do not seem to be a particularly passionate pair, but the joy and pride they have for each of their little ones is obvious to see. [img]https://i.imgur.com/H384Oql.png[/img] The tale of Gwaine and Ragnelle is that of a fairytale. Ragnelle was cursed by a witch-dragon long ago, and Gwaine was the noble dragon who freed her from this curse. They are the envy of all the other mated pairs in Cherry Grove. Every month they come to the nesting grounds and happily lay their eggs and cherish each egg as if it were a precious gem. Each time a nest hatches, the little ones are told the wonderful story of their parents and are taught that being noble and kind are the only real traits that a dragon should have, because it makes you stronger in the end. When a hatchling goes off with their new clan, one can only imagine the noble and impressive deeds that hatchling will accomplish. [img]https://i.imgur.com/1aRZjCx.png[/img] Evaine and Quellion are an interesting pair indeed. They are both mages, strong in the arts of magic and alchemy and science. All Arcane nests glow with magic, enough to make the eggs float, but even by Arcane standards, the nests of these two are always...interesting. Floating eggs are normal, but there have been eggs that have vibrated, bounced, glowed and even one caught fire! It is obvious that these hatchlings will one day be strong mages, although we do advise keeping an eye on these little ones, as their magic seems to be a bit...out of control at a young age. However, many seem to forget that the stars are made of [b]light.[/b] Light, that has traveled across worlds, spanning across eons of endless space, faster than anything in this universe. The stars have Light energy, whether it is the Arcanians who study them or not. Few dragons, a blessed few, are given the gift of the stars in their scales, hides and furs. These dragons, no matter their Flight, are children of the Lightweaver. Their magic, and their very essence radiates from the stars - the Light - that glows in their skin. They are a dazzling creature, those that carry the map of the stars on them. The only thing that separates them from the deep night sky - when the light shines the brightest - is the golden plates that cover their wings, and the intricate filigree that decorates their bodies. Another sign that they are truly precious in the eyes of the Lightweaver. [/i] --- The hatchlings of this pair that have the Starmap primary are indeed a rare treasure. More often than not, these little ones tend to lean towards fields that allow them to shed light on others. Most think of the Arcane scholars and teachers, but no this is not their drive. They do not seek [i]knowledge[/i] but rather, they are urged to go and spread the light of the Lightweaver, bringing bits of hope and light into even the darkest of hearts. You may find yourself with a hatchling who wants nothing more than to heal the darkness in others. You may find yourself with a warrior who is determined to drive out darkness from the corners of the land. You may even find yourself with a simple dragon who wishes to inspire the light of inspiration in those around them. The stars that glitter in them are a constant reminder, to themselves and those around them, that there is light constantly moving and constantly shining, no matter if we can see it or not. The stars remind everyone of the vastness of the world, the more extraordinary aspects of their lives, this hidden light in the darkness. Beware the magic of these dragons. The Skydancers are easily the more fearsome of the two, simply because they represent the greatest fear of all dragonkind: the unknown. No one can sort out how or why, but the Skydancers with the starry feathers seem to [i]know[/i] far more than they ought to. Sure, this is said for nearly every Skydancer, with their mysterious gems and extraordinary empathy, but no, this is different. It is as if these dragons can see into time and space itself. They watch invisible currents pushing and pulling events and people together and apart, and nothing seems to faze them. To watch a natural disaster occur, does not affect these dragons in the slightest, for all they see is the natural flow of the universe, all things being as they should. This simple attitude tends to unnerve many who meet them. The Pearlcatchers on the other hand are less empathetic and are far more focused in the future. Whereas the Skydancer sees the ebb and flow of the universal forces, the Pearlcatcher sees nothing but possibility. There are so many endless roads to travel down, and so very little time to do so. It is not uncommon to see a Pearlcatcher, gazing into it's pearl, but these Pearlcatchers are not simply staring at a reflection of themselves, they are staring [i]directly[/i] into themselves. These are dragons who spend much of their time wondering and daydreaming, using their Pearls to see what their lives, and the lives of others, could have been. Each breed has a gift for travel. After all, the speed of Light is the fastest in the universe. Whether it is by magic or science, teleportation seems to be the easiest of powers to manifest in these hatchlings. Do not be surprised if your more psychic-oriented dragons try to use the starry hides of these hatchlings to divine the future. The stars are said to hold all knowledge.
