I think that the lore is a little too family friendly for my taste, but I just ignore what I don't like
The Shade and the Beastclans are also now completely non-canon to me. Funky little animals are just funky little animals. I'm not at ease with the Mind Control Evil, it's lazy writing, and I never liked the Beastclans. At all.

i don't either, i think it is something i would have appreciated as a kid but as an adult i don't care. my dragons have no lore either. they're just pretty pixels.

I like to work in official lore into my own clan and dragons, but if I don't like something or don't feel like it works with what I have planned or want to do I just ignore it (i.e. PCs being gossips, most things on the dragon breed wikis in general).
That being said, I usually only follow the broad strokes and what I happen to remember of the lore since I don't feel like having five wiki tabs open every time I want to write something.

(as others have said, i use the broad strokes of canon lore and then just… do whatever i want. i also ignore whatever i want if it just doesn’t fit. so it’s still recognizably sornieth but all the details are wrong, i’m pretty sure. oh well!)

The lore is there to read when I get bored but that's about it.
I kinda just ignore the prescence of elements and I just make dragons of different elements from the same family. I also see genes as only appearance and not affecting the dragon. I sometimes even change the genes to suit my personal designs for my dragons better.

Each lore revision that gets released makes me care less about the actual lore. The change to harpy lore was kind of the final nail in the coffin for me. I'd originally used them as the major antagonist uniting several minor beastclans with dragons and the new version put an end to that.

It's nice to finally see people who don't care much about the lore like I do! Not that I think the lore is bad, it's great but it's just not a very engaging part of the game to me. The gameplay and dragon breeding aspect is way more interesting to me, I don't need to craft lore around the games lore to feel complete.
