I definitely would enjoy this site less if I couldn't dress any dragons. Ancients are nice, but not really the most exciting for me because I find dressing up dragons to be the most fun part of FR as well.

I have some ancients because I find the linebreaking genes interesting and I can't have those on moderns. Which is why I always campaign for weird ancients with lots of linebreaking genes, because if they just look like regular dragons I'm kinda like ehh, what's the point.

Scrying G1s with weird color combos can be so surprising on ancients, sometimes you get something abolutely new and gorgeous! But also I love the silhouette and pose of f aberrations and m aethers, even with common genes. So full of personality!

I quite like ancients! I much prefer having Moderns to play dragon dress-up with, but Ancients are still great for different reasons. Aberrations, Aethers, and Dusthides are some of my favorites right now.

For me, Ancient gene projects are much easier to complete: their genes are typically cheaper than the Modern variants, and they also don't need outfits to feel 'complete'. So I feel a lot happier scrying Ancient projects for say, special g1s, because their genes can show off their colors in more unique ways.

What I do with them: I have a seperate tab for my Ancients so they aren't usually in the same place my Moderns are. Some Ancients might be in my main tabs, but right now the main one is Salvage cause she's special to me, and maybe Legato and Forte since they're coli guys. But all my other ancient projects are still WIP so they're in the vault.

No, not really. Some of them look pretty cool, but dressing dragons is my favorite part of the site. It’s nice that they’re cheaper, though.

[center]For me, the linebreaking terts make up for not being able to use apparel on ancients. I do prefer the skins of ancients to be a little more on the busy side though. Linebreaking Terts more than make up for Ancients not being able to wear apparel. And more often than not...I find that Moderns can be kind of, boring, without the linebreaking terts. The Ancient exclusive terts just really give a dragon character, in a sense.

I also find dressing up dragons to be kind of stressful, because there's a lot of apparel out there. I mostly just slap on any apparel I have in my hoard to my moderns to make something that looks sort of nice. I have very few planned outfits, haha

I'm personally more into genes than apparel! I do like dressing dragons but I have the most fun picking out genes. So ancients are nice to me because I don't have to feel like a dragon needs to be dressed and cover those genes. (Also their genes are cheaper which is a nice plus.)

Obviously there are skins but I haven't really gotten into buying UMAs all that much yet, so most of mine are just whatever the fest skins are.

For me, a major part of enjoying ancients is just... the perfect combination of genes. This is a lot of why I like G1s too; sure, xxx and xxy dragons are pretty, but they're also boring. Discovering which gene combinations look best with an xyz is a lot of the fun for me, so I enjoy scrying a dragon and seeing what can happen with it. Apparel is definitely a lot of fun, but for me the tertiary gene and the skin/accent on an ancient is the equivalent. The tertiary genes break the lines, so they behave a lot like a single slot of apparel... and while it's true that skins/accents can be limited, it's also fair to say that they serve the same purpose as apparel. Apparel is limited, too - there's only so many pieces, so in that way, skins/accents are more flexible. All this to say that from my perspective, an ancient's skin/accent and tertiary gene behave the same way as apparel for me. They'll never be the majority in my lair because I enjoy apparel too much, but I have a few gorgeous ones that I think look amazing! I recently got her sail/marlin, and did her up with okapi and a UMA I found going for treasure, and now I'm in love with her look!

While I do like their designs and line-breaking genes, I'm very sad they can't have apparel since that's one of the main draws of this game for me. I don't have many ancients because they usually look too naked for my liking.

Despite someone who will always put apparel on Moderns, I do really enjoy having Ancients. I think it's because I know that they can't wear apparel, so I simply don't wish for them to have any because that's just how it is, was, and will be.
