No support.

They are in the same order for everyone. For coli, the items are in the order you would encounter them if you go through from Training Fields to the end. It would be upsetting if a new player rerolled and got coli items from Kelp Beds and the Roost, for example. For the more expensive items, they even out the price from the basically free slots.

I can't support anything that allows users to bypass the expensive tasks. There's plenty of people that would just skip all the pricey ones like eggs, genes, bosses and expensive apparel and never do them.

They're placed where they are so that you can only avoid them for so long before you ultimately have to fulfill some in order to unlock more of the easier tasks. The bigger ticket trades are basically gates that you have to unlock to continue and balance out the over all worth/cost of the den slots. If you were able to skip past all the pricey ones and just do the cheap ones, you'd basically get a ton of space for free. The expensive tasks aren't just paying for the one space, but all the really cheap ones before it too. The actual worth would be to total the item value for all tasks and divide it between them. The staff just decided to give us a more creative way to gain space.

That said, I support being able to do things like runestones or eggs in any order, (like if you happen to have a light but not a wind that the moment). As well as being able to plug in any items we already have so that we don't have to worry about hanging on to them or accidentally getting rid of them.

Support, but only if it comes with a treasure fee attached to it, plus the already suggested CD ( although I'm tempted to say the timer on the CD should be increased too ).

Could also have certain tasks be locked, such as egg and gene tasks, but any of them attached to the coli/food gathering can be re-rolled.

Account less than a year old? Ask me about free dragons!
Bought and kept some of my fodder? Ask me about a free renaming scroll!

Does putting lore on dragons ever get less daunting?
I'd love to be able to do it, with some fee and CD, of course. Yes, it will allow people to postpone the more expensive tasks, but these are den slots, not lair, they are 50g apiece to begin with, and most materials for the slots aren't free either unless you're willing to destroy your wrists in coli.

Having a couple dozens of the quests that cost as much as 6-7 gem slots, with others still mostly costing comparable to 50g or even exceeding it, as anyone who doesn't coli much or can't at all is forced to buy the mats and familiars anyway... it doesn't sound fun.

I've commented on a similar suggestion before, so I'm gonna copy and paste my previous words because I think it still stands pretty well here:
Quote:
Hibden slots are incredibly valuable, and expensive slots are interspersed throughout the task list among the cheap ones. It's not uncommon for me to finally finish an "expensive" task and immediately knock out a few cheap ones that then take its place. That's just the way it works, you need to eventually bite the bullet and give up some breed change scrolls or some eggs in order to continue. Think of it as a "boss at the end of a level" that you need to beat in order to progress.

No support on the task reshuffle/task retiring ideas. Sounds like a prime way for players to reap the benefits of a nearly complete hibden (emphasizing again, slots are incredibly valuable) while only giving up cheap materials. You'd be metaphorically "playing the game to the credits while skipping the bosses."

TDLR, Hibden tasks are ordered in a specific way for a reason. You're gaining something incredibly valuable (extra space for more dragons) while only giving up cheap, easy to find materials. The expensive and rare ones are there as a "gate" of sorts. No support.

i'm someone who only buys den slots as needed, so i don't have much of a dog in this race. but a monthly reroll seems fair to me. and paying to do it also seems fair. not everyone wants to give up eggs for den slots but may have to eventually if they want the additional space giving up those eggs is going to provide. (you're going to run out of "cheaper" tasks at some point)

maybe a perspective change needs to take place; a reroll feature is simply delaying the inevitable, not taking it completely off the table.

if it's pricey enough, people would consider the cost of consistently rerolling as opposed to just biting the bullet and finishing the task - either way it's a treasure/item sink

No support. Hibden slots are valuable to exalters, such as myself. Which is why the slots were never expensive to me.

The expensive slots are there for a very good reason. So many slots are already cheap enough.

I think the idea of "reroll slots to different items of the same type, if available" seems like a really interesting way to handle this. Of course, there's only so much it could help (I would imagine that if you've already done a task, it wouldn't be available any more to replace others of its kind).

I'd picture like, egg > egg, specialty to same sort of specialty (i.e. breed change to breed change). I have all but like, five of my slots done, so I also don't quite have a horse in the game on that front anymore, but I do think it could be interesting from an AH market perspective. Like, this could mean all the Runestones are worth something, because people might random into any of them, instead of just Earth getting value from this (Water is valuable because of a Swipp trade so who knows if that would be affected). Like, because the Earth Runestone is the first asked for, it costs way more than the others, and I don't think being able to shuffle the element would entirely delete its worth, just make it a little less so.

[/quote] This version seems like a great compromise. Being able to swap one egg for another is especially great. I can't tell you how many times I have gotten one while leveling and I need one that isn't already available for me to trade in for den slots. Keeping the items within the same category keeps someone from being able to shove that task to the back entirely while also allowing for you to make progress on what you do currently have of the same/similar value. I'm not sure how this would translate on the runestones myself, either. I didn't actually know that some were more valuable than others since I had been collecting them anyway. I can't imagine it would be much of a change regardless since most things hold value based on drop rates and whatnot. Perhaps not as many people get the Earth one? I'm not sure. I don't think this would change value much, if at all, but I could absolutely be wrong. Hard to say right now without knowing the exact reason for its value. Though, to be fair, I also don't have much a horse in this race anymore. Most of what I have left is boss familiars (rip me) and breed change scrolls with a few things in between that I have hoarded for the express purpose of turning in until I get to another roadblock.
