TOPIC | New Dragon Species? Wyvern?
Amphitheres anyone?

http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/drachen/images/d/d0/Amphithere.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20100517134016&path-prefix=de

They already used "lesser dragons" as a familiar, true they changed the design some but why not add in more. I want cute tiny wyvern familiars dammit XD

In theory a Wyvern may be possible.

The Spiral's arms have wings connected to the side of their wrist and use the biceps and triceps as the arm of the wing. If a similar approach was taken for a wyvern, they may be able to get the arm/wing apparel to work. It has been achieved on one breed, so it should be doable on another.

I mean, think about what Swiftwings could achieve with that fix.

Something like the tiny raptor arm wings could work, but huge instead, like the Fruitbeaks MissRaven linked to.

What I don't support, though, is the idea of having "lesser" dragons as familiars. It would not only disgrace Wyverns, Wyrms, Amphiteres or wingless Eastern dragons, but it also wouldn't make sense that the deities didn't settle on those "earlier" versions. Think about it. Windsinger, a giant snake with four legs, but without wings - he could've created an Amphitere or a wingless Eastern dragon rather than the Spiral, if the Encyclopedia is true and the deities made their species to look like themselves. Tidelord would make more sense to be a leviathan, a giant seasnake, and to make Guardians like that. Arcanist could've made a four-winged breed (Stormcutter, anyone?) where the arm apparel would go on one of the wing arms, and Earthshaker an entirely wingless one. Okay, that wouldn't work because of the genes, but their wings could be so far from their "original" purpose they end up as sails, and that's where the wing color shows.
Even another winged raptor like the Wildclaw would help breaking up that scheme of only six-limbed dragons greatly.

This got me thinking, has anyone done wyvern-ey skins/accents? Like whiting out the arms.. I suppose it'd be very tricky due to colour issues though, and the wings would still be in sort of the 'wrong' spot for a traditional wyvern. But on some breeds/sexes it might work.
They were an early concept, but were rejected for all the reasons stated in this thread I'd love them, but the staff has definitely considered it and decided to go a different route. Maybe someday they'll change their minds, maybe not. If they do though it won't be for a very long time, as they have other breeds already in the works that don't break their desired format.
maybe they can have small arms so that it they are real flight rising dragons(I love the dragons)

Please ignore all post from before 15/3/18. Thanks and have an awesome day!
I admit I'm personaly am not to fond of the swiftwings, mean they look too much like tundra/nocturne hybrids to me, maybe if they got an overhaul. but I doubt we'll ever get wyverns as sad as it is.
