One thing I, and judging from the comments I've seen several other people, thought it was extremely jarring vipera blatantly has the pattern present in hypnotic on parts of some dragons but not others.
So why not just make vipera be vipera on all breeds?
The genes could still easily be a matching set and have just kept vipera's pattern on the primary so it matches better with other things as well as being able to stand on it's own and mesh better with other genes.
Anyway, people like examples so here. Crappy examples.

good god, support. i want to be able to use it on my tundras but the transition is just horrid right now. i don't want feel like i'm locked into using certain genes as pairs.

Support! I get that most genes are designed in paired, but it's still nice to mix and match and not get a bit of a different gene stuck with the ones you want... especially since I like Vipera a lot but not Hypnotic.
