TOPIC | [Breeding] New Eye Colors
You know, breeding by nest type is really boring. What if I want an ice dragon without white eyes? Or a plague one without red? Well, that's where these come in. I propose alternate eye colors for dragons, as well as a bit of variation in breeding. Each color does tie back to an element, but it means that breeding comes with an extra challenge and a lot more luck. For example: Ice dragon x Nature dragon x Fire nest = 33.3% chance of Fire, Nature or Ice eyes Ice dragon x Nature dragon x Ice nest = 66.6% chance of Ice eyes, 33.3% chance of Nature eyes Ice dragon x Ice dragon x Ice nest = 100% chance of Ice eyes So now we introduce the new eye colors; (some are nicer than others) That would cut each eye color's chance into thirds. So, using the Ice!Dawn example, it would be as follows; Ice dragon x Nature dragon x Fire nest = 11.1% chance of Ice!Dawn eyes Ice dragon x Nature dragon x Ice nest = 22.2% chance of Ice!Dawn eyes Ice dragon x Ice dragon x Ice nest = 33.3% chance of Ice!Dawn eyes Like that! The parent dragon's eye color wouldn't factor in, just their element, but I think it would be cool to have dragons with bonus eye colors. I mean, people want contacts for their dragons, right? Why not have different colors within Flights as a better solution? Thoughts? Suggestions and critiques welcome.

I wanted to put something witty here but I really can't think of anything. So uh I draw fake apparel I guess??? I'd love to draw REAL apparel but yknow.

I quite like the idea of multiple eye color variations within a flight. Some of those you've made as examples are lovely looking.

I don't feel that the ability to make non-flight colors available is necessary though.

It's an interesting idea, but eyes really only matter for spirals and fae. Most breeds wouldn't benefit from this.

No support for parents' eyes affecting color--it should be solely based upon the nest they were hatched in because many players have pairs of different elements but breed their dragons in specific nests so the hatchlings have a look. If new breed eye colors were added there should be a way for players to influence which eye color appears.

Personally my biggest thing with breeding for eye colors, is I think there should be a way for players to breed for a specific eye color without having to rent a nest which is an unsupported transaction. This could be by changing a nest's element, an official/sanctioned way to borrow a nest, a way to unlock an additional extra-elementary nest (perhaps a quest type thing or a way to set up a colony in another flight's territory) or some other method

This is a really cool idea, and I partially support it. I definitely like the idea of eye colour variations within a flight, it would add another variable to breeding. I don't like the idea of a parent's element influencing the nest; hatchlings of your nests are your flight element, period. Although I do certainly support an official system for nest rental or the like for people to get their desired eye colour.

The eternal problem. I, too, would love some even deeper blue water eyes, but I'll just draw those on in Artweaver and make a dragon wallpaper out of it :P Example made in MS Paint on an ancient PC with a horrible mouse: That way it's possible to get any eye you want! :3 You can even put the images you make in your dragon's description -it's almost the same thing!

I'd rather this not be something you got through breeding like we do colors. It'd be a big headache, trying to get the right eye color AND body colors.

But this came up before, and I like the idea of there being a sixth nest people could purchase for a lot, and this sixth nest would give you an alternative eye color of your own flight. That way users could control which hatchlings hatch with an alternative color. Plus I'd love to see alternative nest art to go with it.

I also support a safe form of 2P breeding so users can breed for other eye colors with friends without the risk of being scammed.

If writers are supposed to "show not tell," why are we called "storytellers" and not "storyshow-ers"?
I like the idea of eye variations within a flight and some of those examples are quite lovely. However, I agree with others that the parents eyes should not factor into it as the magic and lore of eye colour is pretty fixed.

No support for completely different eye colors. A dragon's eye color is based on the flight it's born into and the accompanying magic that comes with that element.
However, I do like the idea of having slight variations, such as the Shadow-Moon eyes. It keeps the original purple color, but gives just enough nice variation to make things interesting.
