9 years ago, incidents of portals started appearing on Sornieth. Those who saw it themselves believed it to be signs of alien life. Other's thought it a hoax. Slowly, more and more portals started appearing and it could no longer be ignored.
7 years ago, the lightning dragons started Project Gateway to study, learn, and utilize the portals to utilize the strange, new technology. However the efforts remain largely unsuccessful.
One year ago the portals started expanding. They expand across the sky and unknown creatures start crossing through. A society of dragons called the Ambassadors have formed bases to assess the new creatures- any other information of these bases remains uncovered. Then, 10 months ago, the creatures got loose. Some wreaking havoc, some building nests, some just wandering confused. Some dragons evacuated the area, some enforce their lairs and huddle in. A month later, an alien organization called the United Stars Federation (USF) land in flying saucers and announce they are here to assist with the portals and creature disaster. The Ambassadors gladly team up with them.
6 months ago, it becomes common to see the Ambassadors and the USF work together to detain the creatures, and more and more dragons feel emboldened to join the Ambassadors. 2 weeks later, the USF demands the Ambassadors relinquish their power to them. They say their department of Peacekeepers will keep Sornieth safe from now on. Many dragons are too cautious to accept this, and some aliens defect to live among Sornieth.
2 weeks after that, war between dragonkind and the USF breaks out. Flying saucers are taken down from the sky, while bombs are dropped onto the land. Dragons and creatures alike get caught in the crossfire. Many flee their homes, trying desperately to find a safe haven.
In the Viridian Labyrinth, you and your neighboring dragons pack together, bringing whatever you can, and take to the road

Apocalypse Roadtrip is an independent hack of As the Sun Forever Sets created by Mynar Lenahan. I got a copy a couple years ago and am tweaking it a little so I can GM it online and with Flight Rising dragons. As an apocalypse roleplay I do want to give a bit of CONTENT WARNING but nothing outside what you would see on any apocalypse tv show. This includes bodily mutation, death, war, and insanity. There is an alien parasite that can mind-control but if that's not an interest for an enemy, it can be removed.
To make a character, include:
Name:
Pronouns:
Dragon breed and element type:
Past Life: (Medic, hunter, parent, archiver, etc)
2 Traits: (Good runner, intimidating, knowledgeable on something, etc. You can also have an alien or monster related mutation if you'd like! Keep in mind while a trait can be useful in some situations, it may hinder you in others)
Daily Life: (This is where you lore dump! What was your dragon doing when the portals appeared and war broke out? Were they a part of the Ambassadors when war broke out, or were they a civilian? Check out the factions below if you want to see other options! Include a TRAUMATIC EVENT. This is the event that made your dragon realize they have to do something! Maybe your child was abducted, or maybe you almost died)
Goal: (Why did your dragon take to the road? Are they looking for someone? Are they trying to build a community? Are they hoping to create peace with the aliens? Or maybe they just want an alien ship for themselves?)
Inventory: (Meds, tools, armor, etc. Alien tech may also be an option- whatever you think would be fun! Please keep alien tech to 1 item. Also, items will face degration as you use them, including alien tech. This means they can only be used 3 times while getting worse each use. But there will be plenty of opportunities to get loot. Dragon abilities do not face this, but may not be as strong as some items. Repairing tools may also be used to prevent your items from falling apart)
Alternatively, you may be a familiar or monster companion for another player! However you will not be immune to stress as you still will have player build.
There are 12 factions you can be apart of, or roll a D12 to leave it to fate!
1. Independent (No faction/Your own faction)
2. Civilian Refugees
3. The USF
4. The Ambassadors
5. Space Pirates (Alien Anti-USF party)
6. Cryptids
7. Element Faction
8. Brain Slugs (These are the mind-control parasites. If removed, just reroll)
9. Underground (Dragon rebellion)
10. Wealthy
11. Researchers
12. Animals
Alien tech ideas:

? Alien Comms Device
? A Disintegration Ray
? Mechanized Armor
? A Cloaking Device
? Weather Controller
? Identification Chip

Finally, here's what can be expected in roleplay! While your dragon's goals may differ from the others, ultimately you all are traveling as a group for survival and should work together while I will make sure your goals will all get met by the end of the game.
Unless specified by you, your dragon will not permanently sustain injury. But injury, illness, stress, and fear may be inflicted and will be a debuff until taken care of. Stress is caused by player actions (such as running while injured, leading the group, or negotiating with corrupt factions for example) and can be dealt with by resting or doing something fun. Fear is caused by a build-up of stress and forming a major debuff relating to the last stressful event experienced. Also fixed by relaxing or doing something fun.
If 4 fears are accumulated then your dragon will go insane and die. You may also have a familiar! Familiar may be from Sornieth or a monster from a portal! They can help with your actions and do not take stress. The longer they're with you, the more they can help!
Last thing to keep note is I am a full time student, so I will have to GM at a slower pace. I will be active every day after classes and work except Mondays
